Hourly Summary:

 The general laborer will work at the Loaves and Fishes Community Kitchen. At the Loaves and Fishes Community Kitchen the general laborer is responsible for food pickups and coordinating the delivery of food to various sites. Why Work for SMOC?

Primary Responsibilities:

Pick up food donations for OPCS program as needed.
Transport food to OPCS serving sites.
Remove trash from OPCS serving sites and transport to dumpster located at the administration building.
Remove cardboard from OPCS serving sites to recycling facility.
Help out in kitchen as needed.
Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of the specialty.
Attend & participate in engagement team meetings, follow up with client service plans and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other specialty areas.
Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Previous experience working with culturally diverse populations.
Preferred knowledge of food safety regulations.
Must be able to lift and carry boxes up to 30 to 40 pounds repetitively, unload trucks and carrying boxes/barrels.
Must be caring, compassionate and flexible.
Must have an understanding of homeless population, mental illness and substance abuse.
Must be able to self-initiate and multi-task.
Ability to maintain a calm attitude during stressful times and emergency situations.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Organizational Relationship:

Directly reports to program directors at the Loaves and Fishes Community Kitchen.
Direct reports of this position are N/A.

Working Conditions:

The position is based out at the Loaves and Fishes serving sites. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the general laborer will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

Remote Work Option:

Remote work is permissible in some positions at SMOC depending on the key functions and responsibilities. The Laborer, OPCS position is eligible to work from home 0% of the week in scheduling coordination with the department manager. 10am-1:30pm ; Monday – Friday
