Job Summary:
The Watchman is responsible for monitoring the facility to ensure operational flow and safety. This full-time role supports the lumber and wood pellet production environment by maintaining a safe, organized workspace and responding to on-site needs as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular walkthroughs of all facility buildings to monitor operations during shift hours Manage the feeding of the sawdust system as needed Operate the sweeper in the planer mill as needed Occasionally operate a front-end loader to load woodchips into the hopper at the pellet plant Support production flow and maintain awareness of operations Perform seasonal snow removal as needed Operate loader and skid steer as required Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong decision-making skills Dependable with a strong work ethic
Preferred Education:
High School Diploma or GED Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Stand and walk continuously; navigate uneven or slippery surfaces Hearing protection is required in certain facility zones Smoking is restricted to designated areas
