Transfer Station Laborer Position Available In Orleans, New York

Transfer Station Laborer ARG Disposal 366 Washington Street, Albion, NY 14411 Work in conjunction with the Transfer Station Supervisor operating the Transfer Station located in Albion NY. Responsible for the safe operation of all company equipment and waste and recyclable material collected at the facility. Individual is responsible for the safety of customers that utilize the facility. This individual works under the direct supervision of the Transfer Station Supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Assists in the coordination of weights and waste movement with the weighmaster. Assists operator with cleaning and light maintenance around the station to maintain compliance with state and federal policies and regulations. Regular inspection of equipment and maintenance of moving parts. Responsible for daily start-up and maintenance (greasing and fluid checks) of equipment, trailers and truck tractors. Communicates needs of the facility and equipment maintenance as well as needs for materials and supplies to the station operator.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Individual will be outside in all types of weather conditions. Working in and around certain types of wastes and work situations that require certain safety precautions. Individual may be subject to walking and climbing on rough and uneven terrain. Climbing up, down, and around all types of equipment. Individual may work irregular hours when required, or in an emergency situation. Includes heavy lifting of materials. Mandatory overtime is required as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Ability to interact with employees and customers on all levels. Ability to read and follow written and verbal English instructions. Performs work with minimal supervision.
