Tennessee State Parks is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Trail Assessment Coordinator to join our team. As a Trail Assessment Coordinator, you will play a vital role in assessing the safety, accessibility, and quality of trails within our park system. This position requires the use of specialized equipment, including a HETAP (High-Efficiency Trail Assessment Process) machine and UTAP (Universal Trail Assessment Process) process, to assess and evaluate trail conditions. Key Responsibilities:
Utilize a HETAP machine and UTAP process to conduct trail assessments and evaluate trail conditions. Perform detailed inspections of trails, including surface conditions, erosion, obstacles, signage, and overall trail integrity. Document and report trail assessment findings accurately and promptly. Collaborate with park management and maintenance teams to prioritize and address trail maintenance and repair needs. Assist in the development and implementation of trail maintenance plans. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures during trail assessments. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and reliable trail assessments. Travel to various state parks within Tennessee to conduct trail assessments. Must possesses the capability to vertically elevate an object weighing 50 lbs. by a distance of 12 inches.
Requirements:
Physical fitness and ability to walk long distances in rough terrain, often carrying equipment. Proficient computer skills, including data entry, report writing, and email communication. Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time and priorities effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document findings. Knowledge of trail maintenance practices and principles is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different state parks within Tennessee. High school diploma or equivalent.
