Summary:

Ensuring timely and adequate supply of materials to our production locations. Inventory coordination of raw materials. Selects individual coils for each inbound logistics load to ensure material is available at each site when needed for customer commitments. Optimizes the strategy relating to material min/max levels and storage locations to reduce lead times for delivery, maximize CTTI and inventory carrying levels/costs.

Core Functions:

Maintains ERP inventory data on all material located outside company property. Completes inventory reserve analysis. Collects and analyzes supply chain data (inventory, freight, drop shipments, etc.) and contributes to the 5yr supplier strategy. Supports total landed price data. Ensures compliance with supplier stocking program agreements. Monitors coil consumption/demand at each site throughout the day, ensuring replenishment material of individual coils is planned inbound as needed. Prior to building a load, evaluates all supplier source options to ensure optimal filling of needs without requiring shipment of unneeded items “to fill a load” Prior to filling a system generated suggested order for a site, analyze all site demands for that item and all source supply to ensure a proper balance of replenishment across all sites. Understands relative cost of material supplied from various sources and actively manages costs to minimize for the Company overall. Partners with Operations and Logistics to improve reliability and adequacy of inventory supply, reduce overall business costs, and mitigate risk to the organization. Provide excellent communication with Logistics Supervisors to limit trucking delays linked to supplier warehousing. Provide feedback to commodity manager regarding deliveries in order to maintain supplier scorecards. Understands continuous improvement and finds ways to improve processes in areas so as to become more efficient and effective as a Company. Manages the overall spend within area of responsibility by aggressively seeking opportunities for cost, lead time, and quality improvement. Communicates performance metrics, leading indicator data, and external market factors. Benchmarks and utilizes best practices. Participates in cross-functional team activities. Send/Receive phone calls from partner functions and support the coordination of available inventory dates when inventory is not readily available, or consumption is higher than normal.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, supply chain or engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years of increasing responsibilities within a purchasing/supply chain related role in manufacturing environment. Excellent communication skills, negotiating skills, ability to influence and project management skills required. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and MRP experience required. Previous experience with strategic sourcing processes and supplier performance management programs required. Preferred Experience with MRO, building or parts components purchasing. Previous experience with supplier performance management. CPM, APICS or other supply chain management certifications.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. The noise level at the job sites can be loud and in a non-temperature-controlled environment. While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and stand.
