Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a full-time Transportation Specialist.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Housing Quality Standards Inspector, ensures efficient, timely and safe transportation/handling of Boley Centers’ consumers and recycled consumer goods. Assures the cleanliness and maintenance of agency vehicles as assigned.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides transportation for consumers to and from agency programs as scheduled or directed and assists consumers getting on and off vehicles. Ensures assigned deliveries and pick-ups of material, recycled goods, mail and rent between agency facilities and stores, donation centers, donation collection boxes and other locations are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures. Coordinates vehicle repairs as assigned. Assures that interior and exterior of agency vehicles are properly maintained and provides preventative maintenance on agency vehicles as assigned. Provides general clean-up, trash pick-up and disposal along with other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Responds to transportation emergencies during off-duty hours when contacted or as scheduled. Picks up and delivers post office box mail. Delivers agency documents to external sources when assigned. Will comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct and report any non-compliance to the appropriate official. Will attend all required training and will complete other projects/duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/GED required with less than two years of related experience. With two or more years of related experience, education requirement may be waived. Minimum of one year related experience. Knowledge of ability to complete repair work, drive safely and respond professionally to consumer needs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Good skills and demonstrated abilities preferred in such areas as oral and written communications, coordination, cooperation, follow-through, interpersonal relations, attention to detail, use of basic language and math, following verbal and written procedures and instructions, recording information orally and in writing, internal and external public relations, working independently, planning, problem solving, negotiating, adapting to change and organizing own work.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Must comply with all work related rules and standards including, but not limited to attendance. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of self or others.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires both indoor and outdoor work with exposure to such environmental conditions as fumes, odors, dust, uncomfortable cold, uncomfortable heat, vibrations and Uncomfortable noise. Exposure to potential chemical hazards may occur. Overtime and on call duty are required as needed. Must be able to respond to emergency evacuation procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects or manipulate objects including the human body. Physical activities including, but not necessarily limited to balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching above and below waist, sitting, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, seeing and hearing at varying frequency and intensity may be required to satisfactorily accomplish one or more of the essential duties. Must be able to drive van and bus.

WORK MATERIALS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

May include, but may not necessarily be limited to hand tools, moving dolly, truck lift gate and handling lift gate. May include but may not necessarily be limited to vehicle seat belt, weight (lifting) belt. Special or unusual circumstances may require use of emergency safety equipment including, but not necessarily limited to fire extinguisher, first aid equipment/materials, etc.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid Florida commercial driver’s license (Class C) with passenger endorsement CDL required within 90 days of hire if not licensed at time of hire. Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed. Biennial driver physical (DOT) required. Must pass a level II background check and drug screen. Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
