Role:

The Logistics Specialist II supports the day-to-day operations of the Transportation and Receiving departments at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. These teams are responsible for managing inbound freight and executing donation pickups and deliveries to community partners serving neighbors facing food insecurity. In this role, you’ll handle a mix of logistics coordination, administrative support, and customer service. You’ll help ensure smooth communication between drivers, contractors, and internal teams; assist with routing, scheduling, and paperwork; and maintain accurate records for reporting and compliance. You may also help with loading trucks or covering routing responsibilities when needed. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Logistics and may require occasional support during evenings and weekends.

What You’ll Do:
Logistics Operations:

Monitor daily transportation activities and stay in communication with drivers and contractors to respond to delays or issues in real time. Prepare and process transportation paperwork to ensure compliance and smooth execution of freight movement. Adjust route assignments as needed and serve as a backup for the routing specialist. Coordinate inbound and outbound freight schedules for Transportation and Receiving departments. Support loading and unloading activities using material handling equipment such as a ride-on jack or stand-up forklift.

Administrative & Customer Support:

Provide timely and accurate information while offering Respond to internal and external inquiries about shipment status, delivery timing, and other service-related issues. Notify relevant parties of any delays or disruptions and escalate service concerns to management. Manually enter transportation and fleet data into reports and spreadsheets to support tracking, compliance, and reporting requirements. Assist with documentation collection (e.g., CSFP) and support administrative tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate: Strong Communication & Time management skills. Ability to work well under pressure, and on tight deadlines. Demonstrated skills with Microsoft suite products (Excell, PowerPoint, word. etc) Forklift Certification, or the ability to get certified in the first 90 days. Must possess a strong ability to work well with others. Demonstrated skills of computer and logistics systems (WMS, ERP, TMS…etc) Basic knowledge of safe food handling. Even Better if

You Have:

Experience working with both perishable and nonperishable food items. Food safety training certification. Forklift Certification Routing training certification or verifiable 1 – 2 years of routing and dispatching experience. There may be some

Frequently operates in temperature conditions consistent with outside weather. Frequently transition between ambient and refrigerator / freezer temperatures. This position requires local travel daily including routine stops which require driver to load and unload truck contents.
