Job Description
Transportation Load Planner Confidential Gainesville, GA 30507 Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, the Load Planner is responsible for maintaining constant projection of all company assets to ensure maximum efficiency and meets customer’s delivery requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Maintain 24-, 48-, and 70-hour projections on company’s assets utilization and location.
- Coordinate company assets within DOT regulations to meet customers’ pick up and delivery requirements.
- Communicate asset operational needs to the Driver Manager team to ensure efficient positioning and allocation of driver and equipment assets.
- In coordination with the team, conduct alternate deployment of assets to safeguard customer pickup and delivery requirements.
- Advise drivers how to route truck if weather conditions are bad or if having health related issues.
- Coordinate with the operations manager to report shortfall information and requirements in sufficient time to calculate spot rate bids to meet pick-up and delivery requirements.
- Organize and follow up with outside carriers to meet asset shortfalls in equipment availability.
- Manage and track driver home time to preserve driver satisfaction and equipment utilization. Inform Driver Managers when maximum availability has been reached.
- Prepare and implement pass-down status reports to the Night Dispatcher.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Safety to ensure that company policies are followed, and personnel issues are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
- Engage and participate in the orientation of new drivers.
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in managing trucking assets.
- Expert knowledge and skill in the technical details of the trucking business.
- Excellent communication, relationship building and planning skills.
- Ability to make sound business decisions in driver and equipment deployment.
- Understand the importance and value of effective customer relations and satisfaction to the success of the business.
- Understanding and application of FMSCA hours of service and logging.
- A bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics field preferred.
- TMW Knowledge required.
