TITLE:
Maintenance and Transportation Support Coordinator
REPORTS TO
Maintenance Director Non-Exempt
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the position is to provide assistance within all department areas as needed. This primarily includes physical plant maintenance, transportation, central supply and environmental services. As a Maintenance and Transportation Support Coordinator it is your responsibility to operate in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator. RESPONSIBILITIES
Physical Plant Maintenance:
1. Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures. 2. Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by power washing sidewalks, patio furniture and building as needed, picking up litter/debris, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed. 3. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include painting, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures. 4. Replace burned out light bulbs, to include exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary. 5. Service filters and grates for heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Transportation:
1. Communicate with nursing unit managers regarding upcoming resident transportation needs, including date, location and time 2. Be able to operate a Hydraulic Ramp on transport vehicle 3. Transport patients to and from medical appointments as needed 4. Inspect the van prior to use (ex: check oil, gas, tires, first aid kit & fire extinguisher) 5. Ensure that seat belts secure all passengers
Environmental Services:
1. Assist with extensive environmental services projects as assigned (i.e. floor care, moving furniture, beds, room turns, etc.)
Central Supply:
2. Ensure all orders are delivered to the appropriate nursing units and central storage unit in a timely manner. 3. Ensure that supplies are properly maintained and rotated on a First In First Out rotation. 4. Notify the appropriate department when special orders have arrived. 5. Fill Purchase Order requisitions, as approved, and file in accordance with established policies and procedures 6. Ensure that vendors provide appropriate material safety data sheets (MSDSs) in accordance with current OSHA regulations and the facility’s policies and procedures. Report problem areas to the purchasing agent.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED KEY CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to interact professionally with residents, family members and staff of all levels. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be a minimum of 25 years of age. 2. Must have clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations or 1 at fault accident in a 7-year period. 3. Must be able to push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds. 4. Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids. 5. One year of Maintenance experience or technical school training is preferred.
