//youtu.be/XYNIFpLQIJY The position of Material Planner is responsible for developing vendor relationships, purchasing components and raw materials to align with the production schedule to meet OTIF and Attainment goals while also maintaining inventory levels. Supports corporate goals to ensure service level and inventory turns through exception monitoring.
Key Responsibility:
Drive vendor management and purchasing activities. Management of inventory levels to meet production schedules. Generate POs for new products from operating (MRP) system. Promptly address MRP signals and determine whether to pull in, push out or cancel POs as necessary. Measure success through key metrics including SLOB reduction, supplier reduction, cost savings and inventory DOH. Develop and maintain purchasing strategies to ensure inventory objectives and obsolescence goals are met. Drives first level support for potential supply disruptions and escalates as needed. Drive, promote, and develop positive communication with Scheduling team to improve component time delivery. Ensure sufficient stocked quantities are maintained as authorized to achieve production and customer support demands; utilizing all available tools including safety stock, reorder points, J.I.T. deliveries and forecast demand. Responsible for resolving billing issues related to pricing and quantity discrepancies communicating the resolution to the Plant Controller and suppliers. Expedite material purchases as needed to ensure service levels are provided to internal and external customers. Maintain master data specific in operating system relating to pricing, lead-times, lot size, etc. Ensure proper transportation mode by vendor is utilized at a PLZ approved rate. Understanding of changing commodity markets which affect pricing and availability for items required for production. Attending and providing feedback during production, new product, and specification change meetings, discussing availability and potential supply concerns. Host meetings as appropriate with vendors, maintaining open communication regarding lead times, quality standards, service levels and product availability. Support the development of an S&OP process for all finished goods including meetings to review service levels, performance of items, inventory strategy, and supply plan to meet demand. Proficiently use the SAP ERP system to perform all necessary job functions. This includes purchasing functions, exception messages, date maintenance, data extraction, data analysis, and continuous learning and advancement of skills. Support new product development through cooperative procurement of product introductions; end of life product run outs and conversions, and communication to the business of any shortfalls. Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity, procurement Experience using
MRP / ERP
