GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties of this position is to provide administrative support and accounting functions related to the financial management of day to day operations for both the garage and/or the solid waste department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Orders all parts and supplies for the garage. Obtains quotes for items purchased and request purchase orders as needed. Prepares bills to be paid. Prepares work orders for work performed and parts used by the garage and outside repairs. Obtains purchase orders when necessary. Completes monthly close out information for both the finance office and departmental billing. Compiles information for vehicles and or equipment to be placed on
GOV DEALS
when departments get approvals to sell them. Helps garage personnel pick up and drop off vehicles to outside vendors when necessary. Answers phone and greets visitors. Must have a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of solid waste disposal to as to answer any questions asked by the public and businesses. Informs potential customers on what is required to set up an account and the cost. Weighs vehicles in and out
- identifies materials being disposed of
- directs where items are to be placed
- enters information into the system and collects payment accordingly.
Collects payments and makes deposits daily. Runs daily information sheets of transactions for the finance office, prepares and prints monthly reports, prints and mails monthly statements for charge customers. Maintains a list of locations on rental boxes. Maintains a log of required visual inspections for solid waste. Communicates effectively with roll off drivers for pick up and/or delivery of rental boxes. Maintains records of tire certifications and hauling permits as required by the state. Arranges pickup of recycling materials with vendors as needed.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Processes incoming and outgoing mail. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be knowledgeable of modern office procedures and technology equipment. Ability to work independently. Skilled in the use of software such as excel, word, spreadsheets and data-based systems used for particular department requirements. May be requested to train new employees. Overtime may be required during a disaster, emergency situation and if the demand requires it. Performs related duties as required or requested.
TRAINING / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by 3 to 5 years of experience and/or training that includes accounting and billing computer software along with general clerical work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state of North Carolina. Must obtain a weigh master’s license issued by the state of North Carolina. Pre-employment and random drug testing.
