A day in the life of a Senior Transportation Specialist at Timberland looks a little like this. This position is responsible for proactively managing the receipt, processing, and auditing of all freight and service provider invoices. This position works closely with carriers, logistics service providers, internal VF teams, and the 3d party freight audit and pay system (Cass) and supports domestic carriers and all VF regions (NORA/EMEA/APAC) with global carriers. Accountabilities include regular meetings with carriers to resolve open invoice concerns while fostering strong working relationships across carriers and regions by using detailed data analysis, modeling and problem-solving skills. Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. Invoice Processing Resolve invoice exceptions and identify root cause thru the understanding of the processing, coding, and auditing tables and tools. Collaborate with Finance to help identify root cause of reporting issues and ability to implement required action such as changes in processing logic, general ledger coding, etc. Notify Global Logistics Central Procurement of any rate discrepancies within the contracts submitted to Cass. Provide guidance to all NORA carriers and Global air/ocean carriers on EDI or paper invoice formatting issues, invoice uploading process, and the resolution of carrier rejections. Collaborate with carriers to ensure we are meeting our net terms per the contract. Work independently to upload Cass and SAP EDI manual invoice uploads when necessary. Track payment of invoices from the CassPort system to SAP. Provide weekly carrier AP KPIs and metrics. Assist with Procurement RFP planning as well as support annual budget planning process. Lead and/or support resolution to VF Audit and VF Compliance findings. Carrier Management Lead calls with carrier partners ensuring process flows are followed to reduce the number of invoice processing delays, exceptions, and past dues as part of the carrier statement management process. Collaborate with carriers, logistics team, and Cass to create, implement and troubleshoot process flows to ensure freight is flowing without payment interruptions. Conduct root cause analysis on Exception Management invoices and provide resolution for carrier meetings. Foster and develop strong relationships with carriers and VF global logistics team. Analytics Monitor accessorial spend reporting to identify and mitigate additional expenses such as detention and demurrage. Engage with internal Logistics and Finance teams for proper training of the CassPort freight spend reporting tool to assist in identifying cost savings. Participate in the ongoing Global shipment records rejection report (DSA) analytics and utilize data to recommend logic coding, table changes, and carrier formats to reduce future rejects. Identify and implement cost savings initiatives. Responsible for gathering, reporting and producing accruals to Finance teams at fiscal month end. Miscellaneous Assume super user role in all relevant systems (CassPort, Infor Nexus, etc). Act as backup for team members. Lead and/or support ad hoc projects as assigned. As point person for carrier accounts, provide excellent service as needed. Work independently to make business decisions on resolving invoicing issues with carriers. What do you need to succeed? Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 2+ years of experience and professional achievements. The foundation skills you will need in this position are: Basic knowledge of all modes of logistics (air, ocean, truck, and courier). Above average interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Ability and proven experience providing best-in-class service to stakeholders and key partners, especially with support to remote customers. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook Required). Must be comfortable making decisions with financial impact under uncertainty and sometimes under pressure with limited supervision. Must be capable of critical thinking and problem solving. Expertise with prioritization to achieve key deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment in pressure situations within changing demands and time constraints.

Location requirement:

Hiring Range:

$24.60 USD – $30.75 USD per hour

Incentive Potential:
