Major Duties and Responsibilities Develops and implements early proactive intervention programs to support the success of high-need entering students. Conducts cohort management in support of this population by developing early relationships, delivering programmatic supports, and collaboration with summer bridge and new student orientation programs to promote early connection to students. Collaborates with Academic Foundations, Office of Testing, and Advisement to identify and recruit entering students with a need for transition supports. Also collaborates with Retention and Academic Success to refer students to Retention Coordinator in their second year as needed. Evaluates, monitors, and responds to academic alerts and maintains a caseload of new students needing support in their transition. Collaborates with academic support and other areas to connect program students with needed supports, guidance and academic coaching. Follows up with students and faculty around progress. Works with Residence Life to develop academic programming within the residence halls, develop transition and academic supports for residential students and engage in direct outreach as needed. Delivers in person supports to students and conducts outreach and intervention within the residence halls as needed. Engages students across campus around developing learning strengths and the importance of integrating academic supports into their collegiate experience. Develops and leads workshops, outreach, and interventions for students focusing on developing learning strategies, how to use tutoring and other supports, and planning for academic success. Utilizes Navigate and other student success tools to communicate, schedule, and support connections with students as part of their success team. Engages in case management and responds to student cases raised by faculty and others with appropriate student outreach, intervention and documentation. Collaborates with a range of offices and service providers to support students’ transition to using their services, supports students referred to them by a range of areas, and works on providing programs and experiences in collaboration with cohort areas. Represents the area and services as needed on committees, councils, and at events. Other duties as appropriate for the position. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree strongly preferred. Three (3) years of full-time professional experience in any of the following: academic support, learning strategy instruction, academic coaching, transition planning, outreach and intervention, or providing supports to a diverse population of students required. Experience working with a residential population or experience working within residence halls preferred. Experience working with high-need students, students with transition concerns preferred. Competencies/Skills Required Strong knowledge of learning strategies and instruction preferred. Strong knowledge of supports within university settings and transition challenges preferred. Experience developing and delivering academic programming, workshops and presentations required. Strong cohort management, outreach and tracking skills are required; experience with large scale outreach and managing large caseloads preferred. Experience using Banner Student Information System and Navigate (or similar student success system) is preferred. Other Information Must possess excellent interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to think analytically, work independently and collaboratively with all levels in an organization. Availability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
