SUMMARY:
Creates, plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Effectively translates Master Scheduled Work Orders by product line (i.e. the Production Schedule) for Finished Goods and/or subassemblies which meet customer or internal demand requirements without overloading available capacity. Creates Work Orders and plans completion of subassemblies, machined components, or internally sourced materials in secondary operations (i.e. material conversion) which satisfies demand for higher level demand requirements as needed. Proactively mitigates impact in the Production Schedule work flow caused by capacity and material constraints or other issue, to ensure timely completion of work with good quality as specified. Transacts material commit issuance or de-commitment from work orders in the MRP system, on the production floor, or in the stockroom waiting to be issued, when necessary to maintain continuity of material supply. Prioritizes work orders to be printed and issued from the stockroom, and coordinates material supply including expediting with Buyers or Planners of material from other AirBorn facilities to maximize performance with reduced delays. Oversees material impacts driven from Engineering Change (ECN) and manages material substitution or other work order ‘redline’ changes which occur for open work orders, and ensures correct material is received by production to complete the work order. Escalates shortages in inventory or on the production floor, to the appropriate Buyer, Planner or Manager. Attends Production meetings to support mfg and collaborate with Management to ensure ideal productivity and timely completion of WO’s. Checks material availability for quotes and production scheduling for new or existing order inquiries. Slots material in production schedule and provides lead-time response to Customer Service if applicable. Acts as Customer Service point of contact for providing commit dates for production orders not in the system and executes date changes (a.k.a. “Re-Prom’s”) in the MRP system for orders that have been delayed or improved respectively.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requires knowledge typically acquired through: Completion of an Associates degree or vocational degree from a college or university, Two to six years of related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, and customers. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
