Cookie and Wafer Production Planner Joy Baking Group 2000 N Keel Ridge Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148
Overview:
The Production Planner is responsible for planning the production schedule and raw materials required for the 24/7 operation of the Hermitage Cookie and Wafer Facility. The facility has multiple high-output bakery production lines that manufacture cookie inclusions, ice cream sandwich wafers, pie meal, and spun pie shells. The Production Planner must work closely with various departments to optimize the production schedule, including Production, Warehouse, Sales, Procurement, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Quality. The role is critical for ensuring a seamless integration of customer orders, sales forecasts, on-hand inventory, and available materials to generate an efficient production schedule. The role must also work with the Sales and Production teams to react to changing priorities and production disruptions to best meet customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Analyze orders, projections, and inventory to generate an efficient production schedule Calculate material requirements and place orders for raw materials to produce finished goods, while also accounting for shelf life requirements and lead times Plan materials usage to minimize waste associated with aged raw materials Work with Procurement to ensure that packaging and raw materials are on hand to support the production schedule Coordinate with sales and order entry for meeting customer demand on time and maintain continuous communication with Sales regarding concerns that could jeopardize meeting on-time delivery Coordinate with Sales to manage aged finished goods inventory Analyze capacity plan in conjunction with Sales to determine line runtime requirements Schedule cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accurate inventory of all materials and finished goods Coordinate with traffic to pick-up material on schedule Coordinate with warehouse to unload material Coordinate raw material trials and finished good samples production Ensure the use of approved suppliers Post receipts Communicate down time, root cause, and resolutions needed from support personnel and / or vendors Occasional after-hours calls expected Identify and accurately report defective materials, food safety hazards, and potential product contaminants Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions:
Must have a demonstrated record of professionalism, cooperation, and excellent communication Must be able to speak, listen, and effectively communicate with team members, employees, and the public Must have a strong background in Excel with the ability to analyze large sets of data to make informed decisions Involves clerical, analytical, and organizational skills Able to handle confidential information Able to read, analyze, and follow directions Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw a valid conclusion Involves collection, organization, processing, verifying and filing of required paperwork Accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills a must Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Adherence to the company attendance policy is required, which includes expectations of punctuality and limited unapproved absences Involves extensive keyboard operation and regular use of office equipment Position is essentially sedentary but must have ability to regularly climb stairs and access all areas of the office and plant
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required College degree preferred Two to four years of manufacturing experience preferred
