The Disaster Response Supply Chain Specialist manages and coordinates disaster response logistics operations to ensure the deployment of resources and supplies to Water Mission disaster response locations.

This is comprised of, but not limited to, organization, cycle counts, reconciliation, inventory control, shipment quality, and logistical details. In addition, this role will also serve as the procurement point for acquiring goods and services to provide burst capacity to the Supply Chain Management Team during a disaster. This position also supports Water Mission Disaster Response events and advocacy engagements. Additionally, the Logistics Specialist must be willing to travel for up to four weeks per year in support of Disaster Response and country program logistics needs. This full-time position is based in Charleston, SC, and reports to the Senior Supply Chain Logistics and Production Manager. A successful Supply Chain Specialist will: Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, donors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and Core Values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity. Compose international and domestic shipping documentation for Disaster Response. Provide logistical support for Disaster Response efforts. Provide quality control for the picking and packing of Disaster Response shipments. Develop and maintain contingency plans for supply chain disruption during disasters. Establishing vendor contacts and escalation points Manage total/vendor lead time document in conjunction with DR stakeholders Maintain a well-labeled, orderly DR warehousing area. Share discrepancies with warehouse management for reconciliation based on regular cycle counts. Enhance quality control and safety procedures and incorporate these procedures into Water Mission’s Disaster Response strategy. Work collaboratively with the SCM team to identify optimum disaster response inventory levels and reorder points in Water Mission’s ERP system. Thrives under pressure, with a proven ability to work in a highly fluid, quick-changing environment. Other duties as assigned. What is required? Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, preferably in business management, logistics, or a related field. Three to five years of experience in logistics, shipping, quality control,, and/or warehouse management. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use data to optimize decision making – preferably in the nonprofit or ministry sector. Advanced knowledge of ERP software, shipping methods, standards, and the Microsoft Suite of applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and provide constructive feedback. Experience working in a disaster response context is preferred The ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds in a warehouse setting. Ability to operate a Forklift preferred. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities is required. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to four weeks per year to support Disaster Response and Water Mission Country Programs. These trips may require this person to live and travel within difficult disaster environments during the trips. Ability to thrive in environments that require long car rides over difficult terrain, walking long distances in difficult terrain, working and sleeping in unconditioned environments with limited to no access to electricity.
