Summary of Job – The Receiving/Distribution Warehouse Associate is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products within the manufacturing plant. This role involves ensuring the accurate and efficient handling of goods, maintaining inventory records, and supporting the overall logistics operations. The Receiving/Distribution Warehouse Associate will collaborate with various departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products. Function & Scope of Responsibility –

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Unload and load materials and products using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Store materials and products in designated locations, ensuring proper organization and labelling.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular inventory counts.
  • Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and packing slips.
  • Coordinate with production and other departments to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all warehouse operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of warehouse procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
  • Receive and store incoming materials.
  • Follow applicable procedures for the processing of materials in the sites ERP system.
  • Contact appropriate person/department with receipt details as applicable.
  • Place materials in inventory, deliver goods, or coordinate pickup of materials.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve inventory and receipt discrepancies, coordinating with inter-department, procurement, and finance teams for resolution.
  • Initiate freight claims process by documenting all problems noticed in the initial inspection. The documentation may include pictures, notations on Bill of Ladings, driver’s notation, and notations on packing slips.
  • Initiate nonconforming material reports and ensure nonconforming materials are appropriately labelled and segregated.
  • File or disseminate all receiving and shipping documents to the appropriate person/location.
  • Place material in storage racking.
  • Perform cycle counts or process bin reports.
  • Assist with customer deliveries as needed.

Authority/Decision Making – Evaluate and select appropriate storage methods and locations for materials and products. Make recommendations for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives. Determine the best approach for handling and distributing materials and products. Leadership/Managerial/Supervisory Responsibility – Provide guidance and support to other warehouse staff as needed. Assist in training new warehouse associates on receiving, storage, and distribution procedures. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in all warehouse activities.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience Required Technical Expertise :

Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.

Organizational Skills :

Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper storage and labeling of materials and products.

Working Environment:

The Receiving/Distribution Warehouse Associate will primarily work in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. The role may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots. The associate may also spend time in an office setting for administrative tasks. Occasional travel to vendor sites or other company locations may be required.

Physical Demands:

The position involves a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse facility. The associate may need to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The role may require bending, reaching, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Good vision and hearing are necessary to perform the job safely and effectively.
