How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are seeking a highly versatile and proactive Materials Manager to join our team. The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations across supply chain, logistics, production planning, inventory, and management of materials required to support production. This role ensures that materials are available in the right quantities and at the right time, in alignment with customer requirements and manufacturing schedule. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: Purchasing and Inventory Management
Develop and implement strategies, methodologies, processes, and systems to optimize inventory levels to ensure timely material replenishment or ordering to support production plans and customer orders.
Determine appropriate purchase quantities and delivery timelines based on material needs.
Support the movement of materials within theanization, including shipping and receiving.
Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate material availability data. Production Support
Partner with production and scheduling to synchronize material requirements with production schedules.
Track and review material consumption to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
Identify material shortages, constraints, other issues that may impact production schedules and coordinate the rearrangement of schedules with affected departments.
Support batching and ing of production orders. Sourcing and Cost Control
Manage material costs through effective sourcing strategies and inventory control practices.
Partner with corporate sourcing and global supply chain by offering rmendations for and executing on cost reduction initiatives and localized sourcing opportunities.
Identify and implement logistics improvements, such as consolidating shipments from Canadian supply bases.
Identify areas of material waste and implement process improvements to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. Continuous Improvement
Continuously evaluate and refine material management and procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Identify and implement enhancements for material handling and optimizing material storage.
Create and track KPIs such as on time delivery, inventory turnover, and cycle count accuracy, and countermeasure KPIs that are off-track.
Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department andanization. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and sourcing to resolve material-related issues.
Partner with supply chain and sourcing leaders for effective implementation of improvement initiatives.
Provide ad hoc analyses and insights to support strategic projects and operational improvements. What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: Required Experience 3-5 years of experience in a supply chain, production or planning role, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control, and procurement best practices.
Application of inventory management such as consignment and pull systems.
Strong experience with ERP systems – SAP preferred.
Highly proficient in Excel, able to perform data extraction and analysis.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, andmunication skills.
Experience making data driven decisions and developing actionable rmendations for the business. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Self-directed andanized, exhibiting strong initiative, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment.
Experience implementing lean supply chain management processes.
Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Excellentmunication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field. Travel & Working Environment Manufacturing environment.
