Regular This position shares the responsibility with other area managers in coordinating production and maintenance activities in the mining operation. Areas of responsibility include all aspects of operations, production, and maintenance areas.

Job Description:
Essential Duties:

Ensure the safety of personnel by promoting safe work policies, attitudes, and procedures.
Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and Federal, State, and Tribal environmental regulations.
Provide leadership for all emergencies that arise.
Provide leadership for incident/accident investigations and substance abuse testing.
Coordinate mine activities to maximize employee productivity and optimize equipment utilization.
Ensure all environmental laws and policies are abided by to accomplish total environmental compliance.
Build effective working relationships with all departments by promoting daily cooperative interaction.
Provide guidance to supervisors in administering fair and consistent personnel policy.
Set standards of performance in all areas.
Coordinate work schedules including daily and weekend overtime schedules.
Build effective working relationships with all NAM customers in their working area.
Provide input for annual operating and maintenance budgets and equipment specifications. Review and make recommendations based on production and financial performance.
Provide input for formulating and defining policy at the mine site level.
Be knowledgeable of company policies and procedures and assure consistent application of the policies.
Be able to speak in a public setting (safety and communications meetings)
Administer the cross-training program.

Other Duties:

Reviewing safety meetings, reports, and work plans.
Perform spot inspections of equipment and work areas.
Coordinate material delivery operations through planning with appropriate geology, engineering, processing departments, and with appropriate customer personnel.
Monitor, assist, and facilitate training as required for growth and development of employees.

Minimum Requirements:

Must be willing to work hours designated by the manager.
Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must possess proven problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of surface mining equipment and general maintenance principles.
Must be able to coordinate with other departments for assistance in meeting assigned responsibilities.
In-depth knowledge of positive employee relations practices.
Knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety practices.
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
English language required and Spanish Language a plus.
Good note-taking skills.
Minimum of 5 years of Supervisor Experience.
Minimum of 10 years of mining production experience is required. A 2 or 4-year college degree may be substituted for up to 5 years of experience.
Must be willing to travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Quarterly in-state overnight travel is required. Periodic out of state travel is required.
