This role will support all project development and company activities, including exploration, technical studies and engineering, permitting, asset and company cost evaluations, operations, and corporate communications. This role will liaise with applicable stakeholders to achieve project and company goals, including coworkers, senior management, 3rd party contractors, project team members, government agencies, vendors, and communities. This role would specifically drive consistencies within the quarries to emphasize optimization and increase productivity and utilization of assets.
Responsible for Safety of the mining operations within the Cement Division and actively participates in safety programs and initiatives.
Responsible for Quarry cost centers including cost control and optimization. Actively coordinates with Accounting and Procurement teams. Develop annual cost targets and budgets with Quarry Managers. Job Responsibilities Supervise the Cement Division Quarry Managers, and mining operations salary personnel including mining engineers.
Oversee variable compensation criteria and implement production incentive plans.
Ensure Quarry material movement volumes and chemistries to supply Cement Plants with proper Cement feed. Coordinates with Cement Plant and QC Managers.
Ensure appropriate management practices, including availability and utilization indexes, for fixed and mobile equipment assets within the mining operations.
Ensure the design of safe, practical and accurate annual Mine Plans for each mining operation and assure following it.
Develop annual overburden stripping plans and budgets.
Develop mobile equipment CAPEX budget requests for the Cement Division, in mining operations and Cement Plants.
Coordinate with Projects teams for new Quarry optimization and improvement CAPEX projects.
Coordinate the creation of reclamation/rehabilitation plans and Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO).
Ensure Quarry development and blending to achieve longterm reserve utilization. Annual reserve reporting.
Maintain an active program for tracking mining operations KPIs.
Maintain GPS and drone survey equipment.
Develop mining operations staffing needs. Coordinates with Human Resources.
Annual recruiting of mining engineering students for TDP and internship opportunities. Ensure training and development of TDP graduates.
Work with environmental department to ensure the use of BMPs for mine development and reclamation/rehabilitation.
Assist in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permits.
Aid in Cement Plant raw material mix designs for lowest overall raw meal cost.
Assist the Corporate Resource and Mine Planning team as needed, including assisting with planning and execution of exploratory drilling projects and development. Participate in company projects when required and if time allows.
Assist in management of the most appropriate hardware and software tools, including block models.
Communicate geological, mine planning, and operational information to Corporate and site management teams.
Compile and maintain databases of mining operations information. Qualifications Bachelors Degree with a Mining Engineering major preferred
Professional Engineering Licensure preferred
5 Years of experience in operations and or engineering functions within the mining industry required, construction materials industry experience preferred.
Valid drivers license required

Microsoft Office:

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
AutoCAD, Carlson, Surpac, and MineSched experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of Cement manufacturing process highly preferred.
Excellent leadership, people, and organizational skills required
Surveying and drone experience required
Experience with coordination, project management, oversight of salary and hourly personnel in both union and nonunion environments preferred.
Excellent computer skills
Ability to work in an outdoor environment with some physical labor at times
Good oral and written communication skills required

Working Conditions Capability to work extended hours as necessary
Ability to conduct overnight travel as needed (25-50%).
Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
Ability to work in an outdoor environment with some physical labor at times
At times, requires working in hot, dusty, or wet conditions with exposure to loud noises
