Full Job Description General Summary of Duties:

The Director of Institutional Giving works closely with the Vice President, Development to increase and diversify institutional giving, with the expectation managing and securing a portfolio of $3-4 million in annual commitments. The Director is responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts from local, regional and national foundations, municipalities, state and federal sources for Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami’s annual programs, operations, and special events and capital projects. Essential and Other Responsibilities (perform other duties as assigned): Collaborate with VP, Development to set and manage goals and create and implement a comprehensive annual plan for securing institutional support. Maintain a portfolio of donors, and generate new leads in alignment with BBBS Miami’s strategic priorities. Collaborate with leadership team on the development of case statements per program, as well as the overarching organizational case for support. Proactively identify, research and cultivate short and long-term prospective funders, leveraging professional relationships and those of BBBS Miami senior leadership (CEO, senior leadership, and board members). Work with the Development Department to oversee donor recognition, stewardship and benefit fulfillment for institutional supporters. Monitor institutional giving trends on local, state and national levels. Produce progress reports for funder, management and board review. Assist as necessary with preparations and follow through for the annual audit. Document and track all fundraising activities in the Raiser’s Edge database, and develop and distribute regular progress-to-goal, moves management and donor activity reports.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Five to ten years of professional experience with a successful record of accomplishment in achieving fundraising goals Excellent organizational and time management skills, including setting and communicating realistic deadlines while overseeing a timeline and team members to achieve funder objectives Knowledge of the corporate, foundation, and government funding landscape and regional and national philanthropic communities Experience in budget compilation and reporting for complex organizations Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills with an in-depth knowledge of AP-style Contributes to a positive team dynamic and a participatory workstyle Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity Excellent reasoning abilities, sound judgment, superior interpersonal skills, and impeccable attention to detail Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs and fundraising databases, such as Raisers Edge Excellent writing skills backed by case statements, proposals, and collateral material examples Superb verbal and presentation proficiency; as well as effective planning, organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills Exemplary emotional intelligence, with the ability to inspire donors and partners about the mission of BBBS Miami Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as key strategies toward broad-based, institutional excellence, representing a range of perspectives, thought, and actions.
