Full Job Description Brief Description of Organization:
The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization. This public interest law firm provides high quality civil legal services to low-income clients, the working poor, children, and other disadvantaged groups.
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Fiscal Administrator is responsible for the financial matters of the Legal Aid Society. The Fiscal Administrator ensures the proper measurement and implementation of Internal control practice and procedures to comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities Include :
Accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaids and accrual schedules, monthly financial statements, reconcile accounts, journal entries, fund accounting, general ledger, cash flow, support payroll processing. Prepare for and participate in external audit(s) and 990, complete funding reports; assist with budget preparation for annual budgets for board, the Executive Director, funders, and potential grantors. Instrumental in administering all contracts, funding terms, and conditions. Work closely with the Executive Director and Admin Team in budget analysis and forecasting needs; remain abreast of insurance policies. Prepare and submit cost requests and expenditure reports to grantors for payment, reimbursement, or grant compliance. Protect the organization’s integrity by keeping information confidential. Other duties, as needed, related to the fulfillment of the organization’s overall mission. Attendance at ongoing trainings, as needed.
Requirements :
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, related field or equivalent. Minimum 5 years experience in fund accounting and GAAP preferred. Nonprofit accounting software experience required, MIP Abila software experience highly desired. Strong verbal and written communication skills and Microsoft Office Suite programs familiarity required.
