7/13/2025 11:59 PM Eastern Description Under the direction of the Vice President of Advancement, the AVP provides leadership, planning, and direction in development, implementation and evaluation of strategic direction and daily operations. The AVP will work closely with staff to ensure collaboration, support and strategic alignment of common goals. The position is integral to the major gifts program and will have a portfolio of major gift prospects that she/he will cultivate, solicit and steward for gifts to the College. Examples of Duties The position will lead a team of development professionals, as directed by the Vice Presidentand will interface with both internal and external constituents with a focus on fundraising and cultivating relationships. Develop and execute implementation of fundraising initiatives and programs including, but not limited to Annual Fund, Capital Campaigns, Grant Writing, and Planned Giving. TheAVPwill manage a planned giving program to engender a stronger culture of legacy giving. The incumbent will implement and manage comprehensive annual giving programs, giving societies, alumni and parent giving and participation. In addition, will oversee grants acquisition including research, proposal writing, timely submission, and management. TheAVPwill participate in executing special fundraising events, including oversight of event details and event committee. The AVP will work with the Executive Director on planning and implementing strategies to secure donors and contributions in support of the university, provide oversight of fund development programs, monitor development activities, and foster a culture of philanthropy across university departments and with university stakeholders. Areas of oversight include alumni relations, annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts and college-based development programs. TheAVPwill work closely with the Foundation Vice President and Executive Director in all development and fundraising endeavors, and will assist the VP/Executive Director in the solicitation of major gifts and the future pursuit and execution of a major gifts campaign. Also assist in representing the College in community events and in speaking to selected organizations or groups regarding the vision and mission of the College and the Foundation as needed.
College Fundraising:
Support the Board & Administration by establishing an intentional, formalized development plan that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the school. The AVP is responsible to develop goals and meet/exceed annual fundraising targets; coordinates fundraising strategies; supports ongoing major giving efforts; and develops new, and innovative fundraising programs.
Annual Fundraising Campaigns:
Manage, plan, organize, and executes the annual campaigns, including the annual and employee giving campaigns, with direct responsibility for entry to top-level donations. Ensures the effective operation of donor acknowledgement programs for each campaign.
Stewardship Plan:
Develops and implements a multi-year stewardship plan and assists the Vice President/Executive Director in strategic planning.
Grants Acquisition and Management:
Oversees grant acquisition including research, proposal writing, timely submission, and management in coordination with the College’s Grants Office.
Planned Giving:
Oversees and effectively executes of planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
Fundraising Events:
Plans and executes special fundraising events, including oversight of event details and volunteers. Return on
Investment:
Collaborates with the Foundation’s lead business officer to analyze the return on investment for all annual campaigns and fundraising events. In addition, actively participate in budgetary development per the direction of the Executive Director. Represents College and Foundation in External Community; attends functions to network and represent the College and Foundation in the community as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of applicable experience, or Master’s degree or 6 years of applicable experience.
