Community Harvest SRQ Part-time Executive Director Community Harvest SRQ Sarasota, FL 34236 • Hybrid work Community Harvest SRQ seeks an enthusiastic change-maker to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. The Executive Director is essential in leading community-driven strategies to connect the Sarasota and Manatee communities with fresh, local, sustainably grown food, emphasizing education, food waste reduction, and action. Responsibilities The Executive Director oversees the operations, and fundraising for Community Harvest SRQ.
Key responsibilities include:
Represent Community Harvest SRQ and manage communication efforts. This includes communicating and educating about our mission, programs, and projects through in-person meetings, presentations, and events, as well as social media, newsletters, and educational materials. Fundraise to support essential programs and grow the organization’s impact. This includes applying for and managing grants, running membership drives, and seeking out sponsors and donors. Build relationships and partnerships to grow collaborations, support, and capacity for the mission. This may include developing and maintaining relationships with farmers, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, educators, local governments, funders, donors, sponsors, and other relevant stakeholders. Oversee contracted employees and vendors to ensure program implementation. Work with the Program Director to connect our community with fresh, local, sustainably grown food through Community Harvest SRQ’s programs.
These programs currently include:
food rescue from farms, farmers markets, backyard fruit trees, and more; educational programs; celebration of the best of local food with Eat Local Week; and the online Eat Local Guide. Qualifications A strong candidate will be passionate about the mission and committed to community-driven change.
Minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, agriculture, sustainability, environmental studies, business management, or other related topics; and minimum two years job-related experience. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
NOTE:
Four years of related experience can be substituted for the degree at Hiring Committee discretion.
Other preferred qualifications include:
Proven experience in a leadership role with demonstrated impact. Excellent communication and public speaking skills. Strong networking and volunteer management experience. Successful fundraiser and grant manager. Proficient in using social media tools, updating a website, and creating digital newsletters/materials. Proven ability to work independently and strong organizational skills. Experience in nonprofit management. Location Sarasota County, Florida The position includes in-person office responsibilities, event attendance, and flexible remote work.
