Executive Director Boggs Rural Life Center, Inc Keysville, GA 30816 • Hybrid work Job Summary The mission of the Boggs Rural Life Center is to continue the rich heritage of Boggs Academy through intellectual and spiritual development by creating opportunities for education, technological applications, skilled workforce, community economic development, affordable housing and healthcare, environmental justice and recreation to meet the needs of a diverse population. Our work aims to elevate and strengthen the transformational nature of the Boggs Experience, which draws upon long-established pillars: purpose, preparation and performance. The land, its natural resources and the infrastructure on it provide space for togetherness, education and recreation for the greater community of Burke Co., the CSRA, Georgia and Boggs Alumni and descendants. Boggs Rural Life Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization through a critical transition period. With no current staff and limited financial resources, this role requires a hands-on leader who can stabilize operations, engage stakeholders, and develop a sustainable path forward. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Organizational Stabilization Raise the visibility of the institution. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it in public forums, media and community events. Work closely with the Board of Directors to assess the organization’s financial and operational status. Conduct an evaluation of the organization and provide an assessment report Guide a long-term strategic planning process to stabilize the nonprofit and ensure continuity of essential services, while ensuring that organizational activities are in alignment the current annual strategic plan Provide the board with regular updates on performance and progress Identify and mitigate risks to the organization, including financial, operational, and reputational risks. Financial Oversight & Fundraising Monitor the finances of the operations and work alongside the Board to develop and manage an organizational budget, providing financial reports, and forecasts. Conduct an immediate financial assessment to identify critical needs and potential funding sources. Establish emergency fundraising initiatives, including grant applications, donor outreach, and community partnerships. Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and corporate sponsorships and lead the development of a long-term fundraising plan for the organization. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Communicate regularly and transparently with the board, keeping them informed of challenges, progress, and needs. Rebuild trust and maintain relationships with donors, stakeholders, partners, and the community. Serve as the primary liaison with funders, partners, and government agencies. Cultivate and maintain relationships with Boggs Academy Alumni members, City of Waynesboro and Keysville officials, Burke County representatives, the local Presbyterian Church representatives, Agricultural partners and other community entities. Operational Management Oversee the day to day operations and implement cost-effective operational strategies to keep the nonprofit functional. Grow and oversee the organization’s operational capacity including the recruitment, hiring, management of staff, contractors and vendors while fostering a positive and inclusive work culture. Identify potential volunteers, pro bono professionals, or partner organizations to support immediate needs. Establish basic administrative systems to ensure compliance with legal and financial requirements, and as needed develop and implement HR policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with laws, IRS regulations, and non-profit industry standards. Specific On-site Responsibilities Maintain an on-site office at Boggs Create and maintain a rapport with the residents and Hunting and Agricultural lessees Regularly Check PO Box Be present to receive and direct contractors doing repairs on campus Attend Board of Directors’ meetings Communicate to BRLC board for opportunities to host events on campus Perform additional tasks as directed by the Board of Directors Qualifications & Experience Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, preferably in a crisis or turnaround situation. Ideally have worked at least 5 years in non-profit staff leadership role. Passion for the mission and commitment to nonprofit sustainability and preserving the legacy of the institution Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, fundraising, and grant writing. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make tough decisions under pressure. Experience working with boards and leading organizational transitions. Experience working in rural communities, preferred experience in land management and/or agriculture Have experience using GSuite and demonstrates technological proficiency Minimum education Bachelors Degree, with a preferred degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Agribusiness, Public Health, or related fields
Compensation & Terms Compensation:
This is a contract-based position with a negotiable bonus depending on available funding and ability to raise a portion of salary. The starting compensation range for this position is $34k – $42k based qualifications and experience.
Duration:
12 months, with potential extension or permanent position based on funding and progress.
Hours:
Flexible, with a minimum of 20 hours per week and as needed to address urgent organizational needs. This position would require at least 2 days per week working from an on-site office. Reports to , and work closely, with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and oversight on organizational performance and progress.
