Taylor-Grady House National Historic Landmark (dba Taylor-Grady House at Landmark Commons), Athens, Georgia.
Compensation:
$50,000/year + Benefits (Full-Time).

Board of Directors (Board President is immediate supervisor)
Overview:
Taylor-Grady House at Landmark Commons is seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to provide leadership as Executive Director of Taylor-Grady House National Historic Landmark, a non-profit corporation led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our mission is to preserve Athens’ only National Historic Landmark and open its doors for all to experience Athens’ inclusive history through education, preservation, and hospitality. The goal is to make Taylor-Grady House a premier house museum, event venue and community center accessible to all and honoring the history of all.
Responsibilities:
1.
Property Management and Development:
Carefully manage and develop Taylor-Grady House and Landmark Commons surroundings and programs as delineated in the lease with the owner, Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County (ACC). Oversee, interpret, and curate a historic collection, ensuring its preservation and relevance to the history of all associated with the house, including enslaved and freedmen. Collaborate with local resources for historic preservation, tourism, education and culture to generate creative and effective ideas and programs. Responsible for all aspects of facility oversight. 2.
Site Rental and Client Services:
Deliver quality services to all renters, from market-rate to subsidized users. Coordinate and support approved caterers and vendors in proper use of the facility. Increase rental income to ensure the sustainability of the organization. Aggressively promote Taylor-Grady House as a premier event venue to increase community support and usage. Expand prospective clients through active promotion and recruitment efforts. 3.
Community Engagement:
Develop Taylor-Grady House into a community center through public celebrations, historic tours, interactive demonstrations, cultural events and educational programs. Establish strong relationships with local neighbors, government agencies, organizations and relevant stakeholders to promote Taylor-Grady House’s historical significance and opportunities for community involvement in its preservation and programming. Create and oversee programs and events that utilize Taylor-Grady House to its full potential, including educational workshops, cultural events, and other relevant activities. 4.
Administration:
Establish and maintain relationships with Athens-Clarke County (ACC) and partners throughout Georgia to strategically achieve the organization’s mission. Work with the Board in development and management of an annual calendar and approved budget before the fiscal year begins July 1st. Assist Board with fundraising efforts. Oversee brand identity and marketing needs. Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations to ensure financial sustainability. Lead, mentor, and motivate dedicated volunteers from throughout the community. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes the organization’s goals and values. Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates, seek guidance on strategic matters, and ensure effective communication regarding the organization’s progress, challenges, and opportunities. Perform administrative functions including, but not limited to, data entry and financial recordkeeping using QuickBooks or a similar system, processing invoices, payments, and rental deposits in accordance with financial policies and best practices and handling general office administration. Supervise staff to ensure increased revenue and quality delivery of services. 5.
Funding:
Be aggressive in increasing rental income and pursuing varied funding opportunities. Investigate and pursue viable opportunities for Federal National Landmark funds, Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation funds, and other relevant funding sources. Identify and secure funding to support programs related to preservation, all history including African-American history, and nonprofit support. Partner with Board members on fund-raising strategies and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, hospitality management, nonprofit administration, or a related field. Experience in property and fiscal management, hospitality/event venue operations or nonprofit leadership. Strong organizational, leadership and community-building skills. Demonstrated ability to secure and manage funding from various sources. Proven ability to manage staff, budgets and strategic initiatives. Proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, Canva, Eventbrite, Mailchimp and donor/CRM systems such as Bloomerang.
