Executive Director, Preservation Worcester Description:
Preservation Worcester seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to guide theanization in the pursuit of its mission to preserve and promote Worcester’s rich architectural heritage and cultural resources. ing to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director’s responsibilities include 1)anization leadership; 2) advocacy and education; 3) Salisbury House management; and 4) fundraising and revenue management. The Position
- Executive Director Responsibilities Organizational Leadership
- Provide overall direction and management of Preservation Worcester’s operations, programs, and staff while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans and annual goals Advocacy and Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for historic preservation in Worcester by developing and implementing public awareness and education programs that promote and enhance appreciation for Worcester’s historic assets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with city officials,munity leaders, neighborhood groups and partneranizations Fundraising and Financial Management
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, major gift solicitation, identifying new funding sources, donor stewardship and event planning to support preservation initiatives
- Oversee theanization’s budget and financial operations Preservation Programs
- Direct preservation advocacy efforts and monitor development proposals and zoning issues
- Oversee educational activities to promote Worcester’s architectural heritage
- Provide guidance on historic rehabilitation projects and assist property owners with preservation resources Salisbury House
- Oversee the maintenance, preservation, operation, safety and accessibility standards of Salisbury House, Preservation Worcester’s historic headquarters
- Maximize the use and visibility of Salisbury House as amunity asset, and with staff support oversee rentals of function rooms and office space Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations, including supervision of four staff (full and part-time) and coordination of numerous volunteers
- Ensurepliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for the Board and funders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in historic preservation, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred
- A track record of successful leadership demonstrated through a minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit or related management
- Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills
- Proven fundraising and grant-writing experience
- Financial management and budgeting expertise
- Ability to build consensus and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Maintain primary residence in Worcester County Desired Skills
- Knowledge of historic preservation principles and practices
- Familiarity with Worcester’s history and architectural heritage
- Experience inmunityanizing and grassroots advocacy
- Knowledge of local government processes and historic preservation policies
- Proficiency in social media and digitalmunications
- Experience in managing historic properties and overseeing restoration projects
