THIS JOB IS ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
The Executive Director of the Community Council of St. Charles serves as the servant leader and chief executive officer of the organization, responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of the council’s operations. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is accountable for executing the mission, vision, and goals as established by the Board. This role includes responsibility for policy implementation, financial oversight, program management, fundraising, and public relations. Positive and encouraging Team engagement is key to the mission and legacy at Community Council.
IN THIS JOB YOU WILL PROVIDE
1.
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the organization in alignment with its mission and strategic goals as set by the Board of Directors.
- Develop and execute annual work plans that support the organization’s objectives and priorities.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff, volunteers, and committees to meet community needs.

Board Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
- Lead subcommittees including fund raising
- Assist the Board in policy development and strategic planning.
- Provide timely, accurate reports to the Board on the organization’s progress toward goals, financial status, and operational matters.

Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Finance Committee and the Board.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, government regulations, and donor requirements.
- Oversee accounting, reporting, and auditing processes.

Program Management:
- Ensure that the organization’s programs are effectively implemented, evaluated, and improved to meet the needs of the community.
- Develop new programs in response to emerging community challenges or opportunities using Community Council’s Strategy Screen tool.
- Coordinate with partner agencies and stakeholders to maximize the impact of the organization’s work.

Fundraising & Resource Development:
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies to diversify funding streams (e.g., grants, donations, major gifts and planned giving).
- Cultivate relationships with donors, funders, and key community stakeholders to enhance the organization’s visibility and secure financial support.
- Oversee, organize and direct grant applications and reporting requirements.

Public Relations & Advocacy:
- Serve as the public face of the organization, representing the Community Council at events, meetings, and in media engagements.
- Advocate for the needs of the community, building strong relationships with local leaders, government officials, and other nonprofit organizations.
- Lead community engagement initiatives to enhance the organization’s impact and visibility.

Staff & Organizational Management:
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff, ensuring effective team collaboration and professional development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes staff retention and high performance which could include a hybrid approach to staffing.
- Implement effective operational policies, including health and safety standards, technology management, and employee benefits.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, For Profit Management, Nonprofit Management, Social Services, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in leadership roles within nonprofit organizations, with a proven track record of managing teams, programs, and budgets.
- Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
