Position Overview
The Field Director position offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic Scouting professional, with three or more years’ experience—looking to take the next step in leadership. ing directly to the Scout Executive and working closely with the Executive Board, the Field Director will play a key role in shaping the future of Scouting in South Mississippi. This role supports all aspects of the Council’s mission, including the Friends of Scouting campaign, membership and unit growth initiatives, program development, unit support, and expanding volunteer engagement at all levels.

Responsibilities
Fund Development:
Supporting all aspects of the Council’s fundraising plan, includingmunity dinners, special events, and product sales.
Membership Growth:
Developing strategies and leading efforts to recruit new youth and adult volunteers to Scouting units within the Council, including an aggressive approach to adding new units.
Staff Development:
Recruits, develops, and manages an effective executive team. Evaluates performance and maintains records of team members’ achievements/failures.
Volunteer Development:
Identifying, training, and supporting key volunteer leaders for Council Committees, and within each district, ensuring outstanding operations and program delivery.
Program Quality:
Leading the development and implementation of life-changing Council, District, and Unit programs, ensuringpliance with national standards and guidelines.
District Operations:
Supervising the day-to-day operations of the districts, including budgets, unit service, oversight, scheduling events, and coordinating with other council staff.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensuring adnce to all safety policies and procedures, including youth protection guidelines, throughout the council.
Education
Bachelor’s degree.
Qualifications
Scouting Experience & Leadership:
Minimum 3 years of successful professional Scouting experience with proven ability to manage Friends of Scouting campaigns, supervise staff, oversee functioning districts, and drive membership growth and retention.
Professionalism & Communication:
Polished, professional appearance; well-spoken with strong interpersonal, written, and verbalmunication skills;fortable in social and networking environments.
Organizational & Analytical Skills:
Highlyanized, detail-oriented, and capable of effective scheduling and back-dating; strong analytical skills with amitment to accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
Adaptability & Work Ethic:
Thrives in fast-paced environments, flexible for evening/weekend events, and maintains a focus on continuous improvement; team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Technical & Employment Requirements:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); must be eligible for U.S. employment and Scouting Americamission.
