Position Summary :

The Director, Fundraising Campaigns & Volunteer Engagement provides professional leadership and staff management to the chapter and is responsible for meeting or exceeding chapter fundraising goals. The Director works in partnership with Foundation leadership, community volunteers and event committees to drive growth and success in both special events. This individual will identify, recruit, train, and partner with leadership volunteers to harness their passion and skills and to help maximize their engagement in order to advance the mission of the Foundation. In partnership with the Associate Executive Director, the Director travels throughout the designated market area to meet with constituents and serves as a key leader for the Foundation with volunteers and supporters. The Director will identify and cultivate partnerships and alliances that will promote growth and awareness in the IBD community.

This role is hybrid:

2 days/week in the NJ Chapter in Tinton Falls, NJ and 3 days/week remote.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

Fundraising Ensure the successful planning and execution of chapter special events. (BANDed Together and Cheers to a Cure Gala) Oversee creation of annual operational plan including marketing, budgeting, and project management to ensure success of these special events. Understand the full scope of inflammatory bowel diseases and in turn, use that knowledge to connect with patients in a meaningful way. Communicate shared vision by utilizing national campaign and marketing materials, adjusting as appropriate. Ensure revenue goal is achieved by overseeing development, implementation, and assessment of year-round strategic fundraising plans for all special events.

Plan includes campaign revenue drivers:

proactive committee engagement, acquisition/stewardship of event sponsors, day of event experience, and data-revenue tracking and assessment. Make timely adjustments to fundraising strategies as needed. Ensure the successful implementation of fundraising events to meet or exceed revenue goals. In partnership with the Associate Executive Director and Chapter staff, identify and cultivate corporate, healthcare and community partners who will maximize growth and revenue impact of special events. Prepare and manage the budget (income and expenses) and working plan (including timeline and deliverables) to ensure successful completion of the Chapter’s special events. Utilize data to identify areas for improvement, growth, and opportunity. Deepen relationships and engagement with volunteer leadership/board, event committee members, event sponsors, donors and attendees to ensure execution of an exceptional event experience. Ensure fundraising strategies are understood and implemented by Chapter staff through coaching and direct supervision. Participate in enterprise-wide fundraising strategy, particularly with the New York Region and ensure collaboration across chapters to increase efficiencies and support bold growth in the chapter and across the region.

Team Leadership:

Provide support to Chapter staff by being accountable to job responsibilities, supporting and assisting in the work necessary to achieve revenue goals. Provide leadership to chapter staff by facilitating communication across functional areas. Work in partnership with national and regional staff to ensure success, implement best practices, and support our collective Chapter and Regional goals.

Major Gifts:

Partner with Associate Executive Director to identify, evaluate, cultivate major gift prospects as appropriate through special event constituent base. Support ongoing prospecting efforts and proactively work to deepen and advance constituent engagement.

Volunteer Engagement:

With the Executive Director, build a compelling vision for growth and collaborate with volunteer leaders and staff to achieve it. Work with leadership volunteers to identify, recruit, and engage volunteers who have potential to make an impact. Build strong and effective partnerships with volunteers and supporters and help foster a culture of accountability. Partner with and support volunteer committees to drive success in campaigns and grow support for our mission. Serve as a key leader in your market area building relationships, raising awareness, and sharing mission impact with constituents. Other duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree preferred. 5+ years of successful not-for-profit fundraising, preferably with a health-related organization. Demonstrated leadership success in the recruitment, engagement, and cultivation of high-impact volunteers. Demonstrated track record in committee development within fundraising campaigns. Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, with public speaking ability that will inspire and motivate others. Excellent presentation skills and ability to teach, mentor and coach volunteers to achieve results. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with staff, board members, volunteers and donors. Self-motivated, results oriented leader with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of diplomacy, patience, and flexibility. Proficiency in using Microsoft suite and other technology, communications and donor platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SalesForce, etc.).
