Job Description
Temple Director 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 950 Preakness Avenue, Wayne, NJ 07470 Temple Beth Tikvah, a Reform Jewish congregation in the beautiful suburban setting of Wayne New Jersey, is seeking a Temple Administrator who will be a key partner with volunteer/lay leadership and clergy. We seek an organized, engaging, welcoming, intelligent and inspiring person who enjoys active Jewish living, thinks strategically and seeks consensus and inclusion among diverse individuals. Primary responsibilities are focused on operations and membership in-reach and outreach. Priorities are established by the Rabbi, President(s) & Board.
Reports to:
Rabbi; works in collaboration with the President(s). Coordinates with volunteer leadership, Cantor, Director of Education, Special Events Coordinator.
Start Date:
As soon as possible. Open to hybrid/flexible hours arrangements, (includes some Friday evenings, some Saturday mornings).
Skills Required:
Engaging entrepreneurial partner with excellent interpersonal skills. Effective communicator. Strong computer skills. Ability to understand and manage a budget.

able to encourage participation/volunteering.
Organization:
can create and execute key activities required to complete tasks and achieve success. Relevant Experience (all ideal, but not required): General business, operations and project management. Program development and management. Interaction with clients and/or volunteer recruitment and management. Membership acquisition and development. Working knowledge of Jewish holidays, rituals, culture and traditions. Strong skills in MS Excel, MS Office, Google Office and Zoom workplace. Managed or used database software (we use ShulCloud). Fundraising. Core Responsibilities Ensure processes are well defined and executed effectively across major operations, including: Membership Act as the “face” of the temple with prospective members. Coordinate with volunteer membership chair to promote TBT membership in the community as part of a plan to manage efforts to attract and retain members. Remain connected to past members. Oversee new member on-boarding process. Update and maintain membership database. Monitor and ensure successful annual enrollment process. Fundraising Partner with Temple lay leaders and other volunteers to plan and manage various fundraising efforts to achieve/exceed goals. High Holy Days Partner with key volunteers and staff team to: Plan and manage ticket process, memorial books, etc. Oversee/coordinate congregant honors (includes working with HHD chair to confirm, distribute materials, oversee on-site tracking process). Oversee set up of facility and ensure smooth operations during entire High Holy Day cycle (e.g., parking, security, change of prayer books). Oversee the office staff team to ensure timely, efficient, effective operations Office coverage: ensure on-site team coverage of phones, membership support. Finance oversight. Ensure monthly processes including bill payments/reports are current. Oversee annual processes including budget reports, membership invoices and tax statements are issued in a timely and accurate manner Address arrearage in partnership with volunteer leadership. Building operations, maintenance and security. Oversee building repairs, facility upgrades.
Office coverage:
ensure on-site team coverage of phones, membership. support (coordinate with Event Planner and Volunteers). Liaison to tenants – Ensure TBT is meeting contractual obligations re: facilities/access/safety. Work closely with Director of Education to ensure operations are working effectively including: Budgeting. Registration process.
Other expectations:
We hold weekly Erev Shabbat (Friday night) Services and approximately 10 Saturday morning services and Shabbaton programs per year. The Temple Administrator will be part of the team that participates in Board meetings and facilitates our Shabbat experience. Participate in critical committee meetings (e.g., religious school, ritual, facilities). Ensure successful execution of other Temple Beth Tikvah activities, as requested.
