Board of Directors Position Summary:
The Executive Director (“ED”) serves as liaison of the Providence Building Sanitary Educational Association (“PBSEA/Organization”) and is responsible for the overall strategic, operational and financial management of the Organization. This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for the Organization’s mission and the ability to inspire and guide staff, volunteers and stakeholders. The Executive Director (“ED”) reports to the Board of Directors (“Board”) to implement policies and achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of and in consultation with the Board, the ED shall have the key responsibilities as follow.
Leadership and Management:
Provide strategic leadership to ensure the organization’s mission, vision, and goals are met. Oversee the PBSEA mission and vision, ensuring effective and efficient functioning. Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture, promoting teamwork, collaboration and professional growth. Collaborate with the management team to execute on the Organization’s internal and external goals. Ensure that the Board is kept up to date and fully informed about important details that impact the state of the Organization.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the Organization’s long-term objectives. Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep the Organization responsive and innovative. Ensure that Organization’s image is presented and kept in good standing.
Fundraising:
Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant writing, prospect identification and tracking, and fundraising events. Create and manage strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, community partners, public and private agencies.4.
Financial Management:
Manage the organization’s annual budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability. Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all relevant regulations. Ensure flow of funds are sufficient for organizational activities and identify new opportunities for revenue growth.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Organization, representing its interests at public events and in the media. Engage the Board, providing regular updates on organizational performance and strategic initiatives. Work with management to prepare for Board and committee meetings.
Program Development:
Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services that align with the Organization’s mission and goals. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement and impact.
Major Event Planning:
Annual meeting responsibilities Community outreach events
Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum of 7-10 years of senior management experience in the nonprofit sector. Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and fundraising. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Demonstrated fundraising experience from major donors. Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and best practices. Passion for the Organization’s mission and a commitment to making a positive impact.
