Position:
Executive/Tourism Director, Chamber of CommerceSalary:
Based on experience, range of $38,000 – $45,000
Full-Time/Salaried Position:
Includes some weekends, evenings and/or early mornings.
Summary of Position:
The Executive Director serves as the Chambers chief executive. This roleinvolves promotion of tourism, membership growth, financial performance, event planning, and advocacyefforts while maintaining strong relationships with business leaders, city and county government officials,and community partners.
The Executive Director is responsible for reporting regularly to the Board of Directors on theachievements of the Chamber of Commerce in all areas of community and economic development.
STAFFING
Responsible for providing leadership to staff in a way that encourages teamwork, creativity,efficiency, professional growth and development.
ADMINISTRATION
Responsible for coordinating and allocating resources of all programs and staff tocreate an atmosphere for success within the Chamber by establishing and maintaining a satisfactoryworking relationship with community leaders, public officials, private and public agencies. The Director willbe a member of various community boards by virtue of position.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLSPreferred:
Bachelors Degree or comparable professional leadership experience.
Experience working with regional economic development boards or commissions.
State and federal government relations experience.
Professional leadership experience for 5+ years.
Excellent communication and organization skills, both oral and written.
Ability to successfully work with governments and non-governmental agencies to achieve Chamber andcommunity goals.
Ability to professionally present Chamber programs to local governments, civic clubs, chambermembership, and other organizations.
Ability to manage multiple budgets to achieve the financial and operational goals of the chamber.
Proficient with the use of modern communications technology and social media platforms.
RequirementsFinal candidates will provide consent to background and reference checks.
Executive Director will be required to establish full-time residency in Pickett County within twelve monthsof hire.
