Opelika, AL Reports to: Operations Manager Waste Recycling, Inc. is looking for strong candidate to join our team as an Operations Assistant. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with 0-3 years of experience motivated to learn all aspects of production & transportation operations from experience leadership. This role will report directly to the Operations Manager at our Opelika, Alabama plant and will have direct working relationship with top company leadership. This role is designed for the right candidate to take on progressive responsibilities that within a year are expected to include: Fleet Routing & Logistics Learn and operate fleet management software. Support the continuous process of collecting accurate weight recordings for inbound and outbound materials.

Operations Data Collection:

Gather data from dispatch operations, including response times, resource allocation, and service delivery metrics. Fleet & Equipment Repair Admin Support the Plant Manager with the process related to keeping Fleet & Equipment in working order. Does not require mechanical skills, but those are certainly a plus.

Safety & Environmental:

Ensure that all scale operations comply with company policies, safety regulations, and local, state, and federal guidelines. Ad Hoc Responsibilities to Support Day-to-Day Operations Serve as backup for Scale House Clerk as-needed. Scheduling and reviewing repairs with outside contractors. Ensuring appropriate fleet and equipment inspections are conducted in timely manner. Assist in filing, data entry, and other administrative tasks related to scale operations.

Qualifications:

Strong task and time management skills Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unsupported. Ability to work in a production environment with mix of indoor and outdoor duties. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively Some experience working in Microsoft Excel. Able to pass pre-hire drug test and random tests down the road. High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred Strong bias for action and “can do” attitude. Experience working in Production and/or Transportation. Some familiarity with heavy equipment repairs and maintenance. Motivated to learn on the job from senior leaders. Motivated to work in a variety of settings from a desk to the scales to the production floor as-needed. Willing to travel up to 1 day per month up to 2 hours from Opelika. Some ability to speak Spanish is a plus. Pay based on experience and match with qualifications.
