We’re seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team as the Head of Continuous Improvement. This pivotal role will be responsible for transforming our business operations by driving continuous improvement initiatives across our operations. The ideal candidate for this position will have the necessary leadership skills, business acumen, and strategic and tactical knowledge to lead and drive change. They will have the vision and ability to challenge the status quo, while articulating the vision, strategy and goals of the organization. You should have excellent people management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment. You must be a self-starter and have a passion for continuous improvement and driving change.

Objectives / Responsibilities

Production Optimization Work with plant teams to identify, research, and adapt machine and equipment design to accommodate factory and production improvements including preparation of cost justification and capital request documents. Work with plant teams to manage projects involving design and procurement of new equipment, specifying, evaluating, and recommending innovative technologies, strategies and methods that will benefit operations as needed. Develop and lead routines to drive the measurement of downtime and plans to improve OEE. Continuous Improvement Train, mentor, and guide team members in new processes. Establish Process Improvement & Operational Excellence goals and objectives across the organization. Spend enough time in each department to develop a thorough understanding of current condition. Assess skills, losses, culture, and rigor level. Develop action plan to dually understand/address losses and build capability in team to constantly evolve. Help identify and structure projects to accomplish measurable business objectives utilizing Six Sigma, SOP’s, 5S, Kaizen, and other CI manufacturing principles Develop daily management practices to monitor production standards and investigate methods of improvement where standards are not met. Take action to ensure sustainment of results achieved through various CI events. Work with plant leaders to study and improve manufacturing processes, procedures, and sequence of operations aimed at lowering manufacturing costs. Aid in creating and maintaining Standard Work for all production areas. Teach plant leaders to conduct time studies for time standard development, plant and process layout, optimizing product flow, equipment, and labor utilization. Create an understanding of material flow and design optimized layouts. Establish training plan and execution for plant resources designated to assist and perform CI projects in their facilities. Develop a structure in which plant improvements are driven by data-based loss elimination. Develop standards which require daily rigor to identify issues, drive to root cause, resolve, and reapply solutions in each plant. Study corporate processes for losses/duplication in time, effort, information gap, task/role relevance. Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize projects and allocate resources effectively. Investigate shortfalls, issues, and complaints in current business processes. Conduct thorough assessments of existing processes and identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across the combined corporate and operating platforms. Deploy tools and methods to eliminate loss & waste. (Kaizens, Gemba Walks) Conduct Root Cause Analysis to identify areas of improvement and derive countermeasures. Partner with resources across the company to execute improvement projects to achieve business needs. Identify and nurture operational excellence talent within and outside the organization, including early career programs. Establish and support monthly efficiency reviews with the manufacturing plants Promote CI activities, recognize and reward successes and celebrate CI accomplishments Champion change management by building trust through direct engagement, problem solving, and building relationships. Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) Collect, analyze, identify and investigate product and quality problems Take appropriate and effective corrective and/or preventative action to prevent recurrence Verify or validate corrective and preventive actions, communicate corrective and preventative action activities to responsible parties, providing relevant information for management review All procedures for how the company will meet the requirements for all elements of the CAPA subsystem. Creation of system for identification and input of quality data into CAPA system Audit Preparation Documentation, SOP’s, preparation for ongoing NSF audits CI for High Speed Line Vendor Assessment Forms Establish stability program for outside testing of product Internal/external audits Required Skills and Qualifications Must have at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Manufacturing environment and cross-functional project management experience preferred. Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills. Ability to create momentum and foster transformational change. Must have a working knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint and be proficient with MS Excel software. An experienced leader that can work with cross-functional business groups to apply continuous improvement concepts and principles across the organization. Must have an inherent “data-based” approach with the ability to plan, acquire, analyze, and interpret operations and business data to drive improvements and provide direction/focus. Must have a continuous improvement/problem solving “mindset” and experience. Demonstrated ability to lead large teams in reviews, process improvement events and/or Kaizens as well as leading training and providing coaching support. Possess a disciplined approach to project execution with a track record of positive behavioral results. Incumbent will be self-motivated/driven and able to create enthusiasm for improvement initiatives. Inspirational leadership style and hands-on approach Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. Business, Operations, Engineering) Experience in process improvement and operational quality/excellence roles with progressively increasing responsibilities Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
