CVM Laboratory Operations Analyst 3

Department:

Veterinary Medicine | Research Administration The College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting a Laboratory Research and Operations Specialist. This position will be responsible for the management of research operations in the College. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, this position will be responsible for the following: Management of the biospecimen repository

  • includes database management, assessing relevant sample metadata, categorization and tracking of specimen samples, distribution within the University and to external entities. Oversight and inventory management of controlled substances
  • tracking and managing controlled substances utilized in research activities including ensuring safe distribution and utilization in collaboration with EHE, ULAR and the veterinary pharmacy as needed. Coordinating visiting scholar activities
  • manages requests from faculty to host research based visiting scholars including ensuring compliance with University policies, assistance with visa/immigration paperwork, completing IT and facilities requests, ensuring training compliance, and tracking types of visitors and associated activities. Partnering with Commercialization Director
  • partners with the Director of Commercialization to connect with external stakeholders for brining in research business into the college, specifically focusing on the biospecimen repository.

Collaborates with the Director of the Blue Buffalo Clinical Trials Office to ensure facilities and equipment are available to faculty wishing to utilize clinical trials in their research activities. Monitors and ensures compliance with mandated research focused training of faculty and staff

  • coordinates research onboarding of new faculty and tracks and reports training compliance of research-based staff to leadership and the University as necessary. Management of collegiate shared equipment
  • includes routine assessment of currently available equipment across the three departments, equipment maintenance and asset tagging, updating the inventory of equipment and evaluating needs for new equipment and spearheading grant submissions for new equipment needs working with ERIK.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in a biomedical science and demonstrate at least 10 years of experience in lab sciences or medical sciences, preferably as a lab or core facilities manager.

Requires:

a strong understanding of research logistics and operations through previous participation in progressive research positions; grants writing and/or writing grants for equipment as well as experience running a core facility for a research stakeholder. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter who is interested in working with stakeholders to develop and sustain current relationships and build new ones

  • internally within the University as well as with external entities.
