Description:

The Lead Street Operations Officer combines duties of a Street Operations Officer with leadership and coordination responsibilities. This position involves active oversight of street-level transit operations, incident response, and direct operator support. The Lead Officer serves as a point person for Streets Officers during shifts, coordinating real-time decision-making, especially when direct managerial oversight is not present.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Business/Transportation or related field preferred.

Experience:

3+ years’ experience in transit operations, incident response, or related field. Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.

Supervisory and Leadership:

Provide guidance and real-time operational leadership to Streets Officers. Act as a primary escalation point for complex or urgent operational issues during shifts without managerial supervision. Coordinate and assign tasks among Streets Officers to ensure effective route supervision. Support scheduling and staffing requirements in collaboration with Sr. Manager.

Route Supervision and Incident Response:

Oversee active monitoring of bus routes for service adherence and timely incident management. Lead responses to service disruptions, accidents, and emergencies, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal service impact.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

Guide and assist Streets Officers in detailed incident investigation and accurate report preparation. Prepare operational and incident reports, identifying patterns and recommending service improvements.

Operator Support and Customer Complaint Resolution:

Provide proactive, real-time support and coaching to bus operators. Investigate customer complaints and coordinate timely responses, ensuring satisfactory resolution.

Collaboration and Communication:

Ensure effective collaboration between Streets Officers, dispatch, maintenance teams, and external agencies. Communicate clearly and effectively during routine operations and emergency responses.
