THE JOB:
This pivotal operations role provides dedicated support to investment professionals engaged in the trading of exchange-traded derivative instruments, specifically focusing on interest rates, listed derivatives, and options products. A primary emphasis will be on ensuring the integrity of transaction data within a regulated marketplace through meticulous reconciliation processes, particularly on major North American exchanges. The ideal candidate will possess deep practical experience with back-office trade processing platforms, coupled with a solid understanding of regulatory reporting requirements, instrument static data governance, collateral management, and internal ledger reconciliation. Flexibility to accommodate non-standard work hours is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
Orchestrate and maintain daily trade clearing and position reconciliations across multiple systems, leveraging specialized reconciliation tools and exchange-provided data feeds. Administer the firm’s operational account structures, including detailed and summary accounts, interest accruals, regulatory reporting hierarchies, and collateral valuation adjustments within internal processing and clearing systems. Execute daily regulatory adjustments related to position reporting and open interest. Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified through the analysis of exchange-generated reports, reconciling differences against the firm’s internal transaction records. Serve as a primary liaison with exchanges and regulatory bodies, responding to inquiries and facilitating the resolution of issues pertaining to trade and position reporting, compliance and collateral-related matters. Collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders to establish and uphold robust operational procedures, ensuring effective controls and risk mitigation strategies are in place. Contribute to various ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives, partnering with colleagues across the organization to drive process enhancements and innovation. Cultivate strong working relationships with trading desks to efficiently address daily operational queries and maintain a controlled environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of substantive experience within the financial services industry. Demonstrated expertise in the clearing operations function, preferably within a brokerage or futures commission merchant environment. Essential knowledge of back-office clearing platforms, encompassing reconciliation systems, front-end clearing applications, and regulatory position reporting frameworks (i.e.
GMI, FIS
) . Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using spreadsheet software, including the ability to utilize macros, pivot tables, and manage extensive datasets. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences. Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining new operational processes, procedures, and control mechanisms. A quick learner, capable of managing multiple priorities and performing effectively under tight deadlines. Highly organized, self-motivated, with a strong focus on detail and accountability.
