Job Summary:
This position will be for an Operational Cost Analyst who is responsible for capturing costs associated with Wind Outbound Logistics Support. This position will work with GE Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and the customer to ensure all costs are captured in the system of record. This position will help us manage expenses and find ways to make our operations more cost-efficient. This position will need to be well-versed in data and financial analysis and have a strong attention to detail. The primary duty of the Operational Cost Analyst is to analyze financial data, provide detailed reporting, and manage inefficiencies. This position will involve two major areas of operational cost analysis. On the front end is management of the Rail, Port, Storage, and Transit Yard costs from a planning perspective. On the back end is the analysis and allocation of paid costs compared to project budgets and other cost categories.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Rail, Port, Storage, and Transit Yard Operations Analysis
- Manage Rail Unplanned Cost Inputs in the system of record (i.e., railcar storage, demurrage, empty revenue moves, etc.) and process receiving inputs from Sourcing and output as planned project costs in the system.
- Manage and oversee Usage for Storage, Transit Yards and supporting Port operations.
o Capture, track, and validate outbound logistics costs for LSPs including but not limited to Rail, Port, Storage, and Transit Yard operations o Monitor usage at all transit yards. o Update the system of record with Project Planned Costs based on planned usage. o Send signal internally/externally to open/close Transit Yards. o Review and Approve Transit Yard OT requests as needed to support truck/rail plan. o Problem solving when LSP invoices do not match usage.
- Additional Inputs to support this SOW would include but are not limited to: o Collect Monthly Snapshots from all transit yards with any operations activity and/or GE inventory.
o Daily monitoring of Rail/Vessel plan. o Daily monitoring of Truck plan in/out at all Transit Yards. o Daily monitoring of Inventory Report. o Collaborate with Sourcing, truck and rail Ops, Transit Yards operators, Inventory analysts, Quality as needed. o Attend weekly strategy/planning calls and prepare Operations Summary reports as needed. o Collaborate with internal and external customers to establish best practices for receiving and tracking cost o Communicate with freight payment team to verify invoiced amounts o Create and maintain documented work instructions for tracking cost
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 4+ years of experience working in Finance or Logistics/Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Able to connect and communicate across all levels of internal colleagues/stakeholders.
- Advanced Proficiency in MS Excel, Moderate Proficiency in all other MS Office programs; Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Fluent and proficient in both spoken and written English.
Desired Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Accounting, Business Management, or Supply Chain Management).
- 2+ years of experience in data, operational, and financial analysis.
- Capability to learn new software quickly and integrate knowledge into solutions.
- Ability to multitask in a demanding work environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
