Melting Manager || Aluminum Recycling & Mill Operations United Employment Associates, LLC Mobile, AL 36670 The Melting Manager will oversee all aspects of the aluminum melting operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible production. This role is critical in managing furnace operations, optimizing yields, coordinating staffing, and ensuring compliance with ISO and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of aluminum melting furnaces, including charge preparation, melting cycles, alloy adjustments, and casting. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and internal quality standards. Manage and train furnace operators and support staff to maximize performance and minimize downtime. Monitor and optimize melt yields, energy consumption, and alloy accuracy. Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal furnace performance and schedule preventative maintenance. Maintain accurate production and materials records, including inventory of charge materials, fluxes, and additives. Support new process improvements and assist in implementing technological upgrades. Collaborate with Quality, EHS, and Operations teams to meet customer specifications and compliance requirements. Ensure ISO 9001 and
ISO 14001
procedures are followed and maintained.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in aluminum melting or secondary metal smelting operations, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong understanding of furnace operation, alloy chemistry, casting processes, and scrap charge design. Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, supervise, and motivate production staff. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA). Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office and production tracking systems (ERP knowledge preferred). High school diploma or GED required; technical or metallurgical degree a plus.
