Job Description

Working in collaboration with Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) and Yale School of Medicine (YM) Departments, the Director, Ambulatory Operations position strategically leads and monitors the daily operations, optimization efforts, transformational projects, clinic design, space allocation, staffing models and development, performance improvement, business plans, patient experience, clinician relations, care coordination, and other responsibilities for assigned “Big Box” Hospital-based and/or Community-based ambulatory site(s) as well as a portfolio of smaller regional practices.
The Director, Ambulatory Operations is responsible for translating YNHHS and Ambulatory strategic goals and objectives into operational initiatives from an overall planning, budgetary, and organizational effectiveness standpoint. They will collaborate with Administration, Finance, Operations, Clinical leaders, and Providers to identify metrics, implement best practices, and develop recommendations for improvement to care coordination and operational efficiency.
The Director, Ambulatory Operations is responsible for the coordination of services at site(s) and ensures that ambulatory site(s) within their span of control demonstrate superior outcomes, provide seamless delivery of care, and maintain competitive cost structures. They are responsible for fostering a culture of patient-centered care, ensuring exceptional patient experiences, patient safety, satisfaction, and access to care. Leadership:
1.1 Manages and directs the administrative activities of Big Box Hospital-based and/or Community-based ambulatory site(s) with at least 1 major service and 21+ Exam Rooms 2.
Business Strategy and Implementation:
Creates and contributes to strategic operational plans, identifies opportunities for innovation, continuously improves ambulatory care delivery models, and ensures the understanding, alignment, and commitment of all staff within span of control. 2.1 Collaborates with leadership to design, develop, and implement clinically and fiscally responsible program philosophies, strategic goals and objectives 3. Human Resources Management. Effectively utilizes existing process to select, align, develop, inspire, motivate and retain a team of highly skilled professionals. 3.1 Coordinates the onboarding process of new clinicians to the practice and all operational aspects of integrating new clinicians into Ambulatory Care. Follows the onboarding guidelines to ensure newly hired clinicians are successful. 4. Collaborates with Legal, Risk Management, and Compliance departments to guarantee proper compliance activities and safeguards. Ensures practices, procedures, and policies comply with state, federal, and other regulatory agencies. 5.
Site Locations:
Participates in Ambulatory site design and refurbishment, including expansion or consolidation, and ensures sites comply with all applicable regulatory requirements. Collaborates with necessary work streams across the enterprise to coordinate and manage project timelines and resources. 6.
Operational & Financial Management:
6.1 Develops, coordinates, and maintains standardized work policies and procedures to improve operational effectiveness, level of care, and efficiency within span of control to achieve organizational goals 7. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in health care, business, or a related field required. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA) is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE A
minimum of five (5) years progressive leadership experience in large group practice setting. Significant business and financial experience gained in a complex healthcare setting, preferably an integrated health system

Comfort working in a high-paced, ever-evolving environmentDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Ability to work effectively, efficiently, independently, and within a team. Excellent organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, interpersonal, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail. Demonstrated supervision, problem-solving, and influencing skills. Demonstrates professional, accurate, effective, and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patients, providers, colleagues, and other departments/areas within the enterprise. Accepts and handles unexpected situations and changes calmly and with confidence; adapts in a positive and productive manner. Demonstrated commitment to service excellence.

Qualifications:
