ESSENTIAL DUTIES

ANDRESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, but not limited to: The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible forflight operations (operational control), Operations Record keepingand coordination of operational functions for maximum efficiency ofoperations. This role will be the direct liaison with the assignedFAA Principal Operations Inspector. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible forsupervising the distribution and posting of information ormemoranda relative to any changes affecting Company policy, routeinformation, integrity of instrument navaids, NOTAMS,requisitioning of flying aids, and aeronautical publications. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible forobtaining the necessary diplomatic clearances prior to departurefor flights into or over foreign countries listed on OperationsSpecifications. The Senior Director of Flight Operations will ensure thatOperations Control is adequately staffed with qualified personnelappropriate to required flight operations. This role will alsoensure that no flight crew member will be scheduled in excess ofduty and flight time and that flight crew members have compliedwith legal rest requirements before their scheduling. The Senior Director of Flight Operations will be responsiblefor coordination and liaising with Federal Aviation AdministrationInspectors and officials and other agencies. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible for thequality of the carriage of cargo, flight/load manifest/weight andbalance control process, establishing policies, procedures andstandards to assure a safe operation in compliance with the FederalAviation Regulations and the Company OperationsSpecifications. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible for thequality of all programs associated with the management of flightand cargo flight operations for the Company. While functions formonitoring the effectiveness of programs may be delegated, theresponsibility for those functions may not be delegated. The Senior Director of Flight Operations possesses theauthority to plan, direct and control the financial and humanresources related to safety management and risk acceptance withinthe Operations department. This includes the responsibility toensure that safety management promotion and training be provided toall personnel. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible formanaging the Chief Pilot with regard to programs, standards, andstaffing of the pilot workforce. The Senior Director of Flight Operations has overallresponsibility for the control and quality of the processes listedin paragraph 4 of this section. He will oversee the administrationand effectiveness of these processes. The Director of FlightOperations is the person individuals may contact directly withconcerns or potential problems identified regarding theseprocesses. The Senior Director of Flight Operations is responsible forensuring that any proposed changes to the processes are discussedwith applicable essential and support personnel and changes areevaluated in accordance with SMS Change Risk Management policies.

The Senior Director of Flight Operations shall ensure that theimpact of any changes to the process, controls and interfaces areproperly addressed throughout the Company’s manual system inaccordance with the manual revision procedures contained in Chapter1 of the GMM and GOM. May perform duties as a flight crew member when properlyqualified in the aircraft. Responsible for supervising the distribution and posting of allinformation affecting or making a change to the Company’s flightoperations of Operations Specifications. Is responsible for the final approval of the selection of allflight operations personnel. Is responsible for all record-keeping requirements and theproper maintenance and disposition of those records. Ensures that qualified and current pilots are assigned to eachflight. Reviews data and analyzes past and current year operationalrequirements to prepare departmental budgets, track budgetperformance, and justify fund requests. Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluateperformance and monitor progress of operations efficiency. Responsible in conjunction with the Director of Maintenance andthe pilot in command, for ensuring the maintenance and inspectionstatus of the assigned aircraft, is current and that requiredmaintenance actions or inspections will not come due before theplanned completion of the flight. The duties and authority to accomplish these duties may bedelegated as necessary; however, such delegation does not relievethe Director of Flight Operations of the overallresponsibility. Serve as a member of the company negotiating committee for thecollective bargaining agreement with ALPA. Review contract grievances filed by ALPA on behalf of the Pilotwork force. Other duties asassigned.

QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Must meet the minimum requirement by the Federal AviationRegulations Part 119.67. Have at least 3 years supervisory or management experiencewithin the last 6 years in a position that exercised operationalcontrol over any operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKINGCONDITIONS

Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching, andprolonged periods of sitting. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high orprecarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or causticchemicals; extreme hot or cold weather conditions. Noise level in the work environment will occasionally beloud.
