OF RETAIL OPERATIONS OVERVIEW

The Director of Retail must be a motivated and detail-oriented individual interested in being involved in many of the aspects of the daily golf operation. The Director of Retail must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent member service skills, and be passionate about the game of golf and the golf business. The Director of Retail will report directly to the Director of Golf, will assist with the management of daily golf operations, and will be responsible for the entire merchandise operation and inventory controls. As a member of our staff, you will join a culture rooted in teamwork, customer service, fun, and professionalism.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotion of the game of golf, and of the golf programs at Quail Creek Country Club
Plan and implement strategic seasonal buying plan and sales forecast.
Present an attractive array of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and golf related merchandise that is consistent and in line with membership expectations.
Conduct accurate and timely monthly inventory of merchandise concession.
Maintain appropriate seasonal product levels consistent with the merchandise concession budget while maintaining a healthy gross margin.
Promote and attractive merchandise concession through the Purchasing of merchandising promotional props, fixtures, and seasonal staff and club house uniforms.
Maintains an attractive and well thought out sales floor plan.
Establish and keep accurate sales records and see that staff adhere to such records.
Trains and motivates golf staff in the sales of merchandise, product knowledge and promotions.
Develop strategies to enhance customer satisfaction.
Utilizes POS and follows set procedures to protect cash and inventory.
Communicate and promote the golf shop merchandise program via club email blast, and website. Attending approved merchandise shows and conferences.
Meet with and develop relationships with club vendors and sales representatives.
Assist members and their guests with merchandise selection, while providing a high level of customer service.
Develop special order policy that seeks to provide customers with consistent wait times and follow-up.
Initiate contact, present corporate merchandise promotions and offerings to representatives from scheduled functions.
Prepare and approve invoices and credit memos to be approved by the director and club controller.
Collect fees for merchandise, tournament, lesson, green and cart fees, and other club related charges.
On hand for the set-up and running of special merchandise and outing events at the club.
Always conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image.
Proficient in Jonas, Golf Genius, GHIN software, and Microsoft Office
Be informed on and promote all club activities and services.
Ability to work in various outside conditions.
Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

CANDIDATE QUALIFIACTIONS

Preferably have had experience working in similar country club operations.
Have verifiable experience of performing at a high level in a strong service-oriented culture.
Be known for being “accountable”, “taking ownership”, and “leading by example” in all that she/he does in the golf operation; essentially someone who ‘walks the talk.’
Have a clear passion for the game, its history and tradition, where it can be clearly seen to positively benefit and enhance members’ enjoyment and respect for golf at Quail Creek Country Club

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary:

$70,000 – 80,000 commensurate with experience
