About the team and position The Field Safe & Secure Team helps to keep our 20,000+ associates, who work at our 200+ various locations, safe and secure every day. By collaborating with various Carvana teams, the Safe & Secure Team delivers strategic planning, security program development, technology innovation, asset protection processes, data analytics, crisis management, and project management. In partnership with the Remote Safe & Secure Team and the Support Safe & Secure Team – the Field Safe & Secure Team is an integral part of our Safe & Secure Organization. The Area Manager, Field Safe & Secure, will provide “Safe and Secure” support for a variety of operations, sites and teams, including Auction, Market Operations, Logistics, and Wholesale sites, in an assigned geographical area. They will be an integral partner for those teams providing consultation to drive risk optimization throughout the network. The Area Manager will be a hands-on leader spending the bulk of their time visiting sites and interacting with teams to drive awareness of risk issues, an understanding of core Safe & Secure Standards, and implementation of programs and processes to deliver upon the Safe & Secure mission. Through influence and collaboration, the Area Manager will drive improvement in several key metrics including unit loss rates, unit damages, inventory control compliance, fraud mitigation, and safety incidents. What you’ll be doing If applicable, day to day leadership of direct report(s), inclusive of one or more Area Lead to support Field Safe & Secure. This will include recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new hires to ensure their acclimation success. You will provide clear expectations, support through consistent coaching, and follow-up and problem-solving to situations that may arise. You will ensure an effective schedule is in place to meet goals and metric deliverables, and foster development milestones. Building partnerships with various operational leaders and other key business partners to collaboratively drive improvements in process execution to mitigate operational risks in an assigned geographical area of responsibility. Leverage expertise, data, and other tools to establish Safe & Secure Standards that are in alignment with operational partner needs and are adhered to through coaching and support. Through data analysis, plan purposeful travel to sites to assess operational and safety risks, and work collaboratively with field partners to implement mitigation tactics and critical action steps. These visits must infuse the team with culture and performance standards that deliver the Safe & Secure Mission at every site, every day. Helping launch new last-mile distribution locations by partnering closely with peers, the Support Safe & Secure Team, and the Real Estate Teams to ensure our teams are properly set up for success through consistent physical security designs and implementation. Review of key risk metrics on a consistent basis to shout out success and to help coach improvements with your business partners. Keeping every detail of your area operating like a “well-oiled machine,” but also taking the time to think through strategy and process with a broad perspective and make the necessary improvements to fuel future growth. Partner with leadership and stakeholders to assist with initiatives related to new Safe & Secure Processes and Programs to ensure strong execution at the site level. Hybrid working environment spending 3 days per week on-site or in office at nearest Carvana location to foster spirit of togetherness and continuous learning of field operations. What you should know/have At least 5 years of Security/Asset Protection leadership experience. At least 3 years of directly supervising and managing a team. At least 2 years of multi-site leadership experience. Commitment to culture of togetherness and inclusion, and leads by example. Proven track record of implementing change across multiple businesses/units. Proven track record of leading teams. Advanced change agility and growth mindset. Advanced influencing skills. We’d love it if you also have Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business, finance, criminal justice, or social administration). Project Management experience that has impacted multiple business units/locations. Understanding of Security Technology. Prior EH&S experience (leading program implementation and oversight).
