Director of Operations Scion Staffing Jupiter, FL 33458 Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Director of Operations for our client, a leading animal welfare organization in South Florida ! This exceptional leadership opportunity offers the chance to drive operational excellence across multiple facilities while profoundly impacting thousands of animals and the communities they serve. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of leadership in private or limited-intake animal shelters.
The incoming Director of Operations will work directly with the CEO to optimize and streamline systems across the organization and will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s future growth. This full-time, on-site position is for immediate hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead daily operations across multiple locations, including shelter facilities, veterinary clinic, intake center, and rebuilding projects Oversee all operational aspects including shelter facilities, veterinary clinic, intake processes, and revenue-generating business lines Supervise and mentor department managers across animal care, medical, facilities, and retail operations Implement and oversee protocols, performance metrics, and quality standards across all locations Provide strategic leadership and operational expertise for facility rebuilding and expansion initiatives Develop efficient housing logistics and animal care systems to maximize lifesaving capacity Partner with the Medical Director to implement evidence-based animal care and shelter medicine best practices Manage HR-related functions including employee development, staffing needs, and policy implementation Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement Optimize volunteer engagement strategies to enhance organizational capacity Represent the organization at public events, media opportunities, and as an organizational ambassador
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in operations management with strong systems-thinking and process improvement expertise Direct experience in animal shelter operations management, ideally within private, limited-intake shelters that emphasize high-quality, individualized care Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations, budgets, and cross-functional teams Exceptional organizational leadership with proven ability to implement efficient operational systems Strategic mindset with the capacity to transition from tactical execution to executive-level leadership Experience developing and implementing performance metrics, quality control systems, and operational standards Familiarity with shelter management software and Google Workspace beneficial Business acumen balanced with mission-focused dedication Hands-on leadership style with willingness to assist with day-to-day operations when needed Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels Calm, professional demeanor in dynamic, fast-paced environments Physical ability to work in various conditions, including animal care areas, veterinary settings, and outdoor spaces
