JOIN OUR TEAM AS A UTILITIES OPERATIONS MANAGER!

Supervisory technical work with some administrative responsibility in the operation of the County’s water plants. Essential Job Functions Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of water plant operators of subordinate class. Gives assistance and advises of difficult and unusual cases. Plans and supervises related administrative and clerical work. Evaluates subordinate employees in the performance of their duties, giving technical advice and direction. Takes and recommends appropriate disciplinary action. Supervises the day-to-day operations of water plants, reclaimed water usage. Maintains and preserves County, Department of Environmental Protection Regulation, and Environmental Protection Departments records and reports related to flow, quality, cost and distribution. Supervises and participates in the maintenance of all plant equipment and related component parts. Arranges for the assignment, reassignment, and shift work of all personnel at the plants. Provides for relief as required. Prepares tentative operating budgets for the facility. Studies work reports, efficiency of equipment and system facilities and makes recommendations for improvements. Applies improved work procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of operators; reports unusual problems and recommends solutions. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the function and servicing requirements of water plant machinery and the process involved in the treatment and pumping of water. Knowledge of chemistry and mathematics as they apply to wastewater treatment processes. Ability to estimate amounts of materials and equipment required for future operation. Ability to supervise plant maintenance and operations and submit reports. Ability to enforce regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County Officials, employees, engineers, developers, and the general public. Ability to read for comprehension. Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS

Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess an Associate degree from an accredited college or university.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid FDEP Class A License in water. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
