Full-Time Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Electrical Department Supervisor to lead our electrical team in the manufacturing of industrial surface finishing equipment. This role is responsible for supervising electrical assembly, wiring, troubleshooting, and testing of complex machinery and control systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial manufacturing and electrical systems, particularly with wiring PLCs, control panels, motor drives, and automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support the electrical assembly team in wiring, installation, and troubleshooting of surface finishing equipment (e.g., plating lines, washers, ovens, etc.). Plan and assign daily tasks to ensure on-time delivery of equipment builds and adherence to production schedules. Review and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. Ensure quality standards, safety compliance (e.g., NEC, OSHA), and proper documentation are met throughout the production process. Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineering, controls and project management teams to resolve design issues and implement process improvements. Oversee installation and startup of equipment at customer sites when required (occasional travel may be necessary). Manage department resources including tools, test equipment, and electrical inventory. Provide hands-on troubleshooting and training support to team members. Maintain accurate documentation for wiring procedures, testing protocols, and continuous improvement efforts. Support hiring, training, and performance evaluation of electrical department staff.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Journeyman/Master Electrician, Certified Electrical Contractor (EC) preferred. 5+ years of industrial electrical experience in manufacturing or custom equipment assembly. 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role. Strong knowledge of industrial controls including PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and control panels. Experience with panel building, machine wiring, and system testing. Working knowledge of CE, UL, NEC, and OSHA electrical standards. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Computer proficiency for work order management, documentation, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in surface finishing or similar capital equipment industries. Familiarity with 480V 3-phase power systems, safety circuits, and automated process controls. Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing shop floor with exposure to mechanical and electrical assembly environments. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform work in elevated or confined spaces as needed.
