In this role, you’ll take the lead in overseeing the daily operations, administration, and technical aspects of fire hydrants, isolation valves, meters maintenance, and AMI systems. About the Position Some of the essential job functions are as follows: Plan, organize, and coordinate daily operations and scheduling for a work unit or section. Oversee safety procedures and training, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations. Assign crews to routine and emergency tasks, providing support for major equipment and operations. Monitor and analyze work efficiency, recommending improvements to processes and job plans. Utilize computer systems for scheduling, time management, and inventory tracking. Coordinate with other departments, vendors, and city officials; manage vendor contracts. Train and develop staff in equipment use, procedures, and operational standards.

Manage staffing:

hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and union negotiations. Prepare and manage budgets, business plans, staffing needs, and maintenance schedules. Support long-term planning and community outreach coordination for ongoing maintenance efforts.

About You Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Engineering, Business, Public Administration or a highly related field AND four (4) years of job-related experience in operations, maintenance of repair, or construction of water facilities.

  • OR•Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university AND six (6) years of job-related experience in operations, maintenance of repair, or construction of water facilities.
  • OR•Professional-related experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience in the related field. A valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Florida Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker “N” endorsement. Experience in the management in the Water Distribution System. The ability to obtain the following certifications: Water Distribution System-Level 1 and Drinking Water Treatment-Class “A”.
