ABM Industries is seeking a dynamic and experienced AssistantManager to oversee and optimize airport shuttle bus services withinour organization. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient,and high-quality operation of shuttle transportation, fleetmanagement, dispatching, and customer service functions. TheAssistant Manager will lead a team of supervisors, drivers, andmaintenance staff to ensure seamless 24/7 shuttle operations. Thisposition requires strong leadership skills, transportation industryexpertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service incompliance with Aviation Authority regulations.
KeyResponsibilities Oversee daily shuttle operations, including dispatching, driverperformance, and route optimization to ensure efficient and timelytransportation. Manage on-time performance, passenger flow, and operationalefficiency to provide high-quality service. Coordinate fleet maintenance, vehicle inspections, and repairsto minimize downtime and ensure vehicle reliability.
Safety &Compliance Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, ADA standards, andAviation Authority policies to maintain a safe and securetransportation operation. Conduct regular safety audits, driver training, and fleetinspections to uphold high safety standards. Investigate accidents or incidents, identify root causes, andrecommend corrective actions.
Leadership & Supervision Provide direction, leadership, and mentorship to a team ofsupervisors, dispatchers, shuttle bus drivers, and maintenancestaff to ensure effective, high-quality transportationoperations. Ensure all Assistant Managers are trained to perform the dutiesof Site Manager, Supervisor, Shuttle Bus Driver, Shuttle BusDispatcher, and Administrative Staff when necessary. Supervise and coordinate employee schedules, work assignments,and performance management to ensure operationalefficiency.
Aviation Authority Requirements for Assistant Managers Assistant Managers must possess and maintain a valid CDL in theState of Florida with the appropriate commercial passenger bustransportation license. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of supervisoryexperience in commercial bus ground transportation. Assistant Managers shall be full-time, locally based, anddedicated exclusively to the Aviation Authoritys Shuttle BusService. Work schedules must ensure 24-hour management coverage ofshuttle operations. Must be on-site during holidays as directed by the AAR. All Assistant Managers and any replacements must receive priorwritten approval from the Aviation Authority.
Client & StakeholderRelations Act as the primary point of contact with airport authorities,airline partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment withoperational expectations. Maintain positive relationships with the Aviation Authority andensure contractual compliance. Respond to service issues, complaints, and operationalchallenges effectively and professionally.
Emergency Response &Contingency Planning Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensurebusiness continuity during service disruptions, severe weather, oroperational incidents. Be on-call for any critical incidents that affect shuttleoperations.
Budget & Financial Management Assist in managing departmental budgets, expense control, andresource allocation to meet financial targets. Monitor operational costs, fleet expenses, and staffing budgetsto maintain cost efficiency.
Quality Assurance, Employee Training &Safety Program Ensure all services meet contractual quality standards andperformance expectations. Develop and implement Quality Assurance and Quality ControlPrograms to maintain operational excellence. Inspect, evaluate, and monitor operations, equipment, andprocesses for compliance with safety regulations and industrystandards. Recommend policy and procedure changes to enhance safety andprevent accidents. Oversee employee training programs, identify training needs,and conduct ongoing education to maintain high safety and servicestandards. Investigate accidents/incidents, determine root causes, andrecommend process improvements.
Performance Monitoring &Communication Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such ason-time performance, driver efficiency, and customersatisfaction. Maintain effective communication between internal teams, seniormanagement, and stakeholders to ensure operational success. Provide regular reports and operational updates to managementand the Aviation Authority. Qualifications Bachelors degree in business administration, transportationmanagement, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in transportationoperations, preferably in airport shuttle, public transit, orpassenger transportation. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations (DOT, ADA, andstate/local laws). Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate,develop, and manage large teams. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiationskills. Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and analyticalabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportationscheduling software. Valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) in the State of Floridais required. Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends,holidays, and emergency situations as needed.
Work Environment Primarily office-based with frequent field visits to overseeshuttle operations and interact with staff. Regular travel within the airport property to monitor shuttleservice performance, vehicle inspections, and driveroperations.
