Job Summary:

The Manager Financial Operations functions as an on-site financial resource focusing on revenue growth and bottom-line performance from the Medical Group perspective. This individual assists Financial Leader(s) with budget development while complimenting the WellStar System Accounting and Finance departments, as well as service line leaders. He/she coordinates with the on-site managers and directors in budget development.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Support Budget Development and Adherence.

  • a.

Review monthly cost center financial performance against budget. Working with cost center management, provide reasonable rational explanation for actions to correct variance.

  • b.

Generates and maintains cube files, i.e. Strata and Lawson systems utilizing WMG data warehouse techniques for financial reporting, ensuring organizational structure is followed and adhered.

  • c.

Assist on-site management in development of reasonable operating and capital budgets.

  • d.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of each functional area within hospitals service offering. Communication and Organizational relationships.

  • a.

Establish and maintain an excellent relationship with corporate accounting department personnel.

  • b.

Have a strong working knowledge of whom to contact for data and information.

  • c.

Establish and maintain an excellent relationship with the hospitals management team and WellStar service line leaders.

  • d.

Exhibit a positive attitude and professional image throughout the hospital and system. Performance benchmarks and trends.

  • a.

Coordinates the productive measurement process for WellStar Medical Group, including statistics for calculation of WMG productivity metrics to market benchmarks.

  • b.

Working with WellStar accounting, ensure appropriate Action I-O information is submitted to external benchmark vendors.

  • c.

Review daily revenue trends for facility cost centers and investigate significant variances. Assist with New Program Development

  • Provide financial support for Pro-formas development for new programs.
  • Focus on multi-departmental implications of new programs. Special Projects, as assigned.
  • Provide assistance to administrative team as required. Be prepared to fill in for finance leader in times of absence.
  • Serves as a liaison with Business Intelligence staff to request, analyze, and interpret data
  • Prepares project complex reports for review by Senior Leadership to help with strategic initiatives, revising needs to meet changing requirements.
  • Establishes documentation process for projects to ensure consistency and assess priority levels.

Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

BS or BA Degree, in Accounting, Finance Required or related field. Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years directly related experience in the healthcare field.
